#stitch with @michaelascott20 Basically not totally necessary but should certainly be avoided in conditions triggered by heat, like rosacea, melasma, seborrheic dermatitis, and sometimes eczema. Do you steam your face? And if so, why do you like it?😁 #dermatologist #facialsteamer #skincarehabits #skinglow #circulation

My grandmas 70 and she looks 50. She told me it’s because she was a dishwasher at a restaurant her entire life, and every time she opens up the dishwater, the steam hits her face. She said the steam is what made her look so young and still have smooth skin. I got reminded of what my grandma said when i saw a video of NLE Choppa recommending to people that you should steam your face and he said pretty much what my grandma said. I’m finna start doing this. I’m trynna look like my granny when I’m 70 😂.

I agree with you. I work at a hospital and I found on patients every day. I saw this African American patient who was 70 or so but looked 50. I was confused and after I complimented her on her skin, she told me she steamed her face every day for the last 40 years of her life.

She could be right because it's shown that you can reverse a great portion of aging just by making sure you and your skin are well hydrated and avoiding sun exposure a lot on your face and your body.

@@sevenblessed2543 I steam every day for some weeks - yeah- it's a process that each person has to be careful with - I breath the steam for my lungs but that can 'burn' the lungs (I think I did a bit) so I'll be more careful - but my skin feels more rejuvenated and it makes sense since you are vasodilating the blood vessels - that has to be good for nutrient transport and waste removal - and acne ? yeah upside is sebum flow goes up - but some people may pat or touch the skin as it is heated and I could see that squishing something - I've also gotten some acne after I used lotion to hold in the moisture - I would like a mist of pro active oil to spray right after while the pores are open - same with acne - you'd think there would be a spray mist to apply after steaming - best of luck with that by the way

I think some dermatologists are dishonest for personal reasons
@Lady_K2

Because they want our money and no one likes when others fine a better way to cut cost. I was waiting for one of them to start hating and here it is but these are the same ppl that prescribe us harsh chemicals for our face that really don’t work. Speaking from experience with my daughter it was a waste of time what was prescribed so I had to research a better way to get rid of her acne and I did.

If you have melasma, really don't do this. She gave nuanced reasons of why and who would benefit from it. She's not advertising any specific service or product. A dermatologist is a doctor. I understand that people may have medical trauma and distrust, but further personal research will show you the same answers she gave. You can also cross reference between other board certified dermatologist opinions. Dr.Dray and Dr.Alexis Stephens are 2 other derms who have made separate long form videos on this topic. Don't be anti-science, be more inquisitive

boosts the circulation in the face says it all - it seems this would actually be more than cosmetic - if no steam blood flow 'per month' is 1000 units you would think pro steam blood flow would be more - like 1400 units and wouldn't that better ? more blood = more nutrients more healing etc - just be careful

When do you do it? Before or after cleansing and moisturizer?
@axelgr8884

Since it makes the products penetrate deeper, it makes sense to steam first and then cleanse. Personally I steam, then cleanse with something hydrating, and go with my retinol and moisturizer (I have dry skin type)

Should i do steaming in my acne prone skin?
@TotalFreedomTTT-pk9st
@TotalFreedomTTT-pk9st 6 ай бұрын
I would go easy at first - don't try to much since your skin might react or over react - also don't rub tissue hard onto the skin - I've gotten little acne form the open pours - I'm a guy and live amongst junk and tools but good luck - just gentle patting on the skin - don't rupture any acne blemishes - that is where steaming could be bad and if your face looks inflamed you might freak and pick at things more - it would be interesting to study steam environments with acne aged people and see if they have lower acne - like dish washers or cloths steaming or ??? sorry for the long reply
