Great videos guys. Nice to see some American drs promoting a drug that was proven in 2002 but have been too scared, paranoid and uninformed to prescribe it because it wasn’t FDA approved. What a shame for the poor patients who had to miss out simply because of drs insecurities and paranoia. Well done to the Dr Kopelands

@@drkopelman I think you missed the point Dr Kopelman. There are many Dr's in the USA to this day who A) have not heard of dutasteride and B) will NOT dare prescribe it even off label because of their own insecurities and fears. Japan had the foresight and intelligence to approve this agent for the treatment of a barbaric and life compromising condition called "hairloss". Many American Dr's are stuck in the past. I can't tell you the countless stories from patients who tell me their Dr will not prescribe dutasteride. Even Finasteride has proven difficult for them to obtain. Here in Europe we were more forward thinking and knew the benefits years ago. I'm delighted to see you are more modern and up with the times. Well done.

Yes! Dutasteride blocks both type 1 and type 2 5 alpha reductase and that’s why it’s considered to be a stronger medication compared to Finasteride to treat hair loss. In our office we usually put patients on Dutasteride because of its ability to be more effective in addressing hair loss.

I took one pill .5 mg of Dutasteride every week and then 1 mg finasteride 4x. Results: My front hairline actually grew back with dutasteride and my hairs got thicker. Prior to Dutasteride, finasteride added hair in my back, but my front hairline was slowly receding. I had no ED issues with finasteride. Side effects: After 6 months of dutasteride, I would get deep acne all my skin. A pimple would form and it would take 3 weeks to go away. I never had this happen before. Normally, pimples would only take a couple of daysm Then I had a boil around my scrotum area form and that took 4 weeks to go away. Although my hair was thicker, my body was covered with pimples and I had a small growth appear on my face. Also, the taste of meat tasted weird and it made me nautious when I ate it. It tasted like iron. All meat tasted like cooked liver. Grss! I think it was because dutasteride my messed up my liver and kidney metabolic processes. At this point, I decided to go only on finasteride and dropped dutasteride. After 6 months, my pimple scars are gone and I can eat meat without this metallic taste in it.

It sounds like you've had good hair regrowth results with both finasteride and dutasteride, especially for your front hairline. Dutasteride is more potent, which likely explains the thicker hair, but the side effects you experienced-severe acne, prolonged healing, and a metallic taste with meat-could be due to how your body metabolized the drug.

@drkopelman3 ай бұрын
It's common for people to experience a temporary shedding phase when starting finasteride, even at the 1mg dose. This shedding is actually a sign that the medication is working, as it stimulates hair follicles to shift from the resting phase into the growth phase. Sure the spironolactone and estrogen will cause feminization and potential sterilization but frankly if this doesn't bother you as a male then go for it! More dermatologists should prescribe this protocol to their patients who want their hair back at all costs. It's working for me. I went from a Norwood 3 to Norwood 1.5 doing this in a matter of months. The progress isn't done yet either. My hair continues to get longer and thicker.
