If you're an owner of an Intel i5-12600K, have you ever thought about upgrading to its successor 13600K?
Of course you could, but the more important question is - should you?
So in today's video I'll be offering you a quick and dirty comparison between the two processors, and what the main differences actually are. Both have their pros and cons, but is the 13600K a worthy successor to the 12600K?

The difference the mobo makes is within the margin of error. Also, getting a Z790 board for the 13600K is more realistic and can help it reach its “full potential”(kinda). At most, the mobo and RAM differences create a 1%-3% difference in performance. If you upgrade from a 12600K to a 13600K for 1-3% performance boost, you are stupid.

I was gaming on an old 9700k that wouldn't stop crashing...I was going to wait for 14th gen in a few months but instead based on reviews like this decided to go with a z790 and a 12600k to hold me over until 15th gen comes out the end of next year. picked it up for under $200 as well! Excellent comparison

you forgot to mention one of key differences, L2 cache is more than doubled, and thats the biggest difference between 12 and 13. gen. Even if clocked the same, 13 gen will always be ahead, but in games the difference is huge.

I'm sorry but using a different Motherboard and RAM is not the correct way to test the performance of a CPU, no matter how similar those components are. They will influence the performance as some of the memory tuning configurations are decided automatically by the Motherboard.

The xmp profiles should be shown as well, many boards sets different values for those, so controlling xmp profiles is of utmost importance when one is comparing between different brands of mobos.

xmp profiles scare me, really... they're so loose on mobos that they're more likely to fry your ram and/or your cpu than anything else. mobo xmp profiles overvolt the living sh out of everything...

overclock 12600K and it is pretty much same thing for gaming at least. It's $140 now. It's almost half the price.

This is correct,but if you overclock an i5 13600k,you have an i7 13700k stock...

While power numbers under C23 are noticeably higher under load …. For general gaming thou, the Intel CPUs are actually quite efficient 🤤🤩. Regardless of what you choose, either cpu will serve you well.

I think is the lack of e cores. I have a 13600t and get 18000 in cb r23 with ddr4 3200 and a h610 motherboard.

Any chance of doing the same comparison (with the RTX3090) between a 12700K and 13600K? I believe they are pretty evenly matched in games, and the 12700KF can be found for much cheaper than the 13600K at present.

If i was in a position of owning 12600k, i would probably jump straight to 13700k or 13900k. 13600k is awesome but the difference is too small to be justified. Plus you can oc 12600k quite well 5.1ghz on all p cores is pretty much guaranteed, so the gap will shrink to stock 13600k quite a bit

all depends on GPU... 3090 is cap for this cpu. my 13600kf in cinebench r23 max. 150w with score 24700p. idle system watching this video, many launchers in background 29w , gpu 4070ti 14w. if i oc cpu to 5,4 and 4,2 WITHOUT RAISING VOLTAGE goes to 25800p in c23. consumes same 150w reported by HWinfo, temps are 70°C max... so many reviews i dnt understand. mobo gigabyte gaming X Z790 ddr5 with ram 6400 cl32 1T....

Nice information, ATM the i5 12600kf costs ALMOST half of the i5 13600k, would it be enough for a 4070ti at 1440p? not planning to upgrade until 2026 at least

No it won't be. You will need a good quality 360 Aio, especially for the 13700K.

Its possible but not really. I have a 6400mhz ram but its unstable, blue screens sometimes. Dropped to 5400 and no more issue. (On ROG B760i)

i would pick the 12600k to oc it to 5.1 or 5.3 should close the gap .......... an overclock 12600k should be fine with paring 4080 or 7900XTX ( 4090 would be bottleneck ) i'm gaming 1080p & 2560x1080p

3900x from the day it was released. still do not feel the need to upgrade. hell i use the very basic settings on the ryzen master. 1.275v and 3925mhz as max on all cores. it really interesting, since i still do not feel like i need to even upgrade my stock cooler (repasted twice). thing is quiet as a bee outside the window... no drops, no spikes... i will get a 40-50 pound cooler for cpu, when i will start feeling like the thing's lacking and it will give another 0.25V and it will give me all-core 4.2 stable. no prioritizing but clean all-core is beautiful.

I bought now my 12600kf for 150 euros passing by a i5 3570k of the 2012! ( Great cpu and still working perfectly). This 12600k rulez for the price! And Power consuption. I think at the moment is the best option for the quality/price. I think i will wait others 10 years to change for anorher cpu 🙂. There is no reason to buy a new one, after 3/4 generations if you don t want to waste money.

@@koviniseziukas7668 yes, it runs like a champ and can pretty much handle any task day to day, I really did want to overclock it but i have a B series motherboard so my only option was to underclock it, and even then it still performs the same using less wattage! I genuinely love it so much! 🤩
