You forgot to mention in the changes is the updated theming for Yaru. Other than the accented icons, there have been noticeable changes for the Yaru theme comparing 21.10 and 20.04 to 22.04. There also has been a change to the Login screen for gnome-shell, where they changed the purple theme to a dark grey. Other than that, great run-down for the pre-beta release!!

@@Lukes-Tech Although 981MB of RAM for a Raspberry Pi is a lot, it's certainly less than the previous releases of Ubuntu; wheras 21.10 and prior releases used about 1.2-1.3GB of RAM, so that's a plus. :3

Fedora has now also Raspberry Pi 4 support, and as far as we know it offers also support for the official 7 inch Rasp. display, which is great. Unfortunately, a first demo on youtube made us let it be. Too little developed. Ubuntu in contrast is according to this demo an option which can be used, and that is what we well do.

I'm hoping 22.04 Desktop will be a LTS release on raspberry pi. The last version, 20.04, was NOT LTS on raspberry pi (was on other platforms).

I try to use the pi 400 as a desktop replacement and with Ubuntu. And somtimes its very slow. The biggest problem i have is that Firefox is to heavy for the pi when it comes to loading times somtimes it takes around 10-20 seconds to open firefox. Maybe i switch to another distro or i install xfce or lxqt on ubuntu because gnome is very heavy. One problem that i have is that the Browser midori is not avilable on the offical repos i guess.

Have they made setting up a VNC server stupid easy like it is on the current Raspberry OS? I run my pi completely remotely.

Your boot media may have a serious effect on your performance. There are now SD cards marked A1 or A2 designed for OS usage. These cards should be faster than most older card types. BTW the version of your 8Gb Pi 4 may effect your stock clock speed. Later 8Gb Pi 4 run a later CPU step, at 1.8 GHz. Your other Pi 4 run at 1.5 GHz stock. The Pi 400 (Keyboard Pi 4) introduced the more power efficient CPU version at 1.8 GHz. BTW I believe MATE is lighter a Pi 4 optimized desktop. Thanks

Definitely, in this video I was using a Sandisk USB Drive actually, it has been used, and formatted a ton which could have affected performance. Yeah some pi's run at different clock speeds, in operating systems like Raspberry Pi OS. I agree for everyday usage, MATE is probably going to be a better experience. I don't think I noticed this when recording the video, but it looks like Ubuntu is now defaulting to 1.8ghz for supported pi's like Raspberry Pi OS. You can see that in neofetch 9:56. This set-up with the Argon M2 to run off of the SSD instead of the SD card makes the Pi 4 come Alive! I highly recommend it. I have a 500gb it everything running off of the SSD makes it so smooth.

Test with youtube is inappropriate, first you should do it in full screen because it will drop much kore frqmes, second you must do it in 1080p. I can run 1080p full screen on RPI 4b 4gb with 10% frame loss on Raspberry Pi OS 64bit with gpu driver enabled which is very great result.

i just bought raspberry pi 4. did not know they had even existed until now. what i have learned about the pi. is it can not run certain os. i have tried ubuntu. i have tried diet pi. i have tried xfce and even gnome. it seems the only thing that works well is the raspberry pi os. bad thing is i have to do search after search to find how to install generic printer to work. if the windows 11 worked well on raspberry pi i would have used windows 11. but raspberry pi's can not run on much bigger os. so i am stuck with just raspberry pi os and run a gaming emulator on it. thats it. i watched several of your videos and tried them all what you mentioned. i am fluent computer tech so i like playing with gadgets see if it works or not. that is how i learn. so i learn raspberry pi is not good for most of what you want. i think it is because of low memory. i know their is 2gb, 4gb, and 8gb. even that is not enough. but this toy i am playing with does keep me busy thats for sure.

22.04 is better than 20.4 Only issue facing with my bluetooth headphone, it turns to mono once select headphone mic.

22.04 on a Pi4? Forget about it. The green SD card activity light is almost always on leading me to wonder "what the heck is it doing with the SD card?!" The boot and shutdown times are worse than 21.10, the responsiveness of the desktop is not great, disk access is slow (launching LibreOffice takes 3 mins). Jammy on a regular computer? Great. On a Pi? Screw it.
