Hello everyone! This is the seventh video in my Iceland & Greenland series.
My adventures in Greenland, my 65th country (well, depending on how you count them), continues.
In this video, I get the chance to explore Nuuk on one of its busiest days of the year - Kids' Day. There are a lot of people out and about and I thought it was an ideal day to explore the cultural side of the capital.
I start my day with a quick bus journey around the city and talk with an interesting bus driver. Afterwards, I frequent a variety of shops, including clothing shops, the big Nuuk shopping mall, the tourist information office and local markets to name a few. I also meet some friendly local people along the way! The day ends with a Colour Run as part of the festivities - yours truly as a spectator only though!
At the end of the vlog, I also give my verdict on whether Nuuk is worth visiting after spending a few days there. I won't ruin the suspense for you, but there is a bit of a twist...
Please hit the like and subscribe buttons, it really helps this channel to grow! Also make sure to check out my other videos!

Hi Willie ... that is a really nice video ... like your "go around and meet people" style! Very pleasant, and fun! Nuuk is on my bucket list, but a few other places a bit higher ... like South Africa! Actually, a number of places in Africa where I have some former students (I taught at UArizona). Safe travels, Willie ... Greetings from Tucson. [BTW, I have a "funny" connection to Drew Binsky ... he's a few countries ahead of you, but you're catching up!]

Hi Jim! Very nice to hear from you and thank you for your support! Absolutely happy to give some travel tips re Greenland and South Africa if you need them - between myself and Drew (an inspiration to us all) you will be well covered in that regard! I haven't been to Tucson yet but, like everywhere, it is on the list :)

Cheers my friend, quite a lot stand out for different reasons. South Africa will always be close to top of the list, but that's because I am biased. As a city I really enjoyed Tallinn - do check out my Estonia vlogs if you haven't already :)

Greenlandic music? I'll have to search for that and have a listen. I hadn't thought of visiting Greenland. You have me interested. I did some reading in my new interest. I see what you meant about no roads outside of town and not to anywhere else on the island. I see that 1/4 of the population are immigrants (I would assume mostly Danish.) Did you hear any of the Kalaallisut Indigenous language? Do you know if it is still spoken by most or all of the indigenous population? Any polar bears to be seen there?
@willieexplore
@willieexplore Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel! Yes mostly Danish immigrants - that is my understanding too. I'm not sure if I heard any of the Kalaalllisut languages - certainly I've only spoken English with the locals but I might have heard some on the radio perhaps. There were no polar bears in Nuuk and I understand your chances of seeing some in the east of Greenland are better.
