Replaying Witcher a while back, I was stunned to realize how much hand-holding it does, especially in Gwent. The dirty secret of both the "main game" and the "secret real game" is that it's not really about skill so much as accumulating upgrades. Once you get all the cards, you can't lose at Gwent, just as once you figure out all the potions and skill points, you become a god in the RPG Witcher minigame in between rounds of cards. The real challenge is learning the system. Fighting skills, detective skills, puzzle solving, these are all fake. Once you have the system down, the game hands you the win, In Gwent, the there's one basic strategy: get as many spy cards as possible, don't clutter your deck with low numbers, minimize weather cards. There's a song and dance in the Skellige deck with magic mushroom cards and berzerkers, but it's all but useless. Spy cards and hero cards are the real power. Once you have a few of those, you've got the game all your own way.

The plot of Aloy herself is very generic and did not invest me at all because she is a very generic and boring character. It doesn't matter to me whether it's Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim or Pokemon, you give me a gender choice 9/10 times I'm picking the girl. I play Injustice and Wonder Woman is smashing you through a wall. And in many, it's by far the better choice. Kassandra in AC:Odyssey and FemShep in Mass Effect are 2 of the best characters in modern gaming IMHO. It's also the best path in Fallout 4 I think.

I don't get where this is coming from. If studios are affraid to do it, there must be a lot of little boys who don't want to play as a girl... But that's also sad because that probably mean a lot of little girls who don't want to play video games because they don't want to play a boy neither...

@@shivanikHZD i played it in summer and it didn't age well. the quests are bland and repetitve, the world is basically empty except the combat and the story is straight forward with no twist whatsoever. i also liked a lot like the graphics and the combat, but it was still pretty disappointing.

Me and my gf don't play much together, but I realised when I got the switch that it's just the games and accessibility that she needs. She's more comfortable trying games on the switch than on the Xbox or my pc, and now we spent a few evenings just playing games together. Only had the Switch for a week, but hopefully it gives us something to do.
