finally found the fix .. you need to link your epic account to go online .. once online u need to go back to the safe house until the coop message pops up from there you can join your friend

Yes you have to, since you need to connect through epic as friends, you need to create epic account and become friends on epic, than on steam you follow the end part of the video. Otherwise you can't see each other if you wont make friends each other.

Googled it, here is what we found: It's not push to talk, when you enable voice chat in online settings your voice will always broadcast assuming your microphone is enabled. I'd suggest using Discord for this. The Co-Op is basically same as Singleplayer except you play with friends. The missions and play through progression depends on who is hosting, host picks missions. Everyone with this host has their story progression and difficulty temporarily set same as the host as long as they stay in this lobby, so yes they're helping host with campaign. The DLC, assuming you mean The Following, it offers another play through with new map, main and side quests, basically new story, as well as new skill-tree, drivable buggy, new items, new weapons and many more. You use your own character from campaign in The Following, and you're always able to go back to campaign after entering The Following.
