One of the only bands I can remember exactly what i was doing when i heard them on the radio. Walking to work with the walkman (with radio of course), and The Stray Cats explode on the scene. Killer songs, killer musicians.

When I first heard this song (prior to this broadcast...a friend brought their 1st UK release back from a trip to Belfast and London) I immediately found this song to be like a dark rockabilly version of a Misfits song. Knowing that Setzer had played with The Bloodless Pharaohs immediately prior to the formation of The Stray Cats and, their origins on Long Island and Jersey annnnd, Setzer's neat lift of The Voidoids "Blank Generation" for their own "Stray Cat Strut" (who Richard Hell himself had ripped off from a beatnick recording) kinda legitimized my train of thought. Setzer was completely aware of the music that was around him and, Danzig and he had a similar array of musical influences which were, above all, pulled from Elvis, rockabilly, horror films and the early CBGB's scene. The Bloodless Pharaohs were nothing like The Stray Cats...much more artsy/experimental/outliers Listening to this tonight for the first time in over 20 years my first thought was the Danzig/Misfits thingy...weird

I heard them for the first time in April 1981 during summer camp leader training for young people. A friend brought an audio cassette. I listened to it all the time on my Walkman. I was 17 years old.

Great live version ! But we don't hear the bass lines. Only drums and guitars. And the drums are incredible !
