Love this particular video because Vince looks exactly like he did when we were in high school together. Invited me over to his house one day, and said, "you probably won't like this song" as he put a 45 on the record player. It was Hank Williams (don't remember the tune now) and I said no, I love country music! Little did either of us know that he would make country singing a career! That was 1972 or 1973, I forget for sure. Always liked him and am so proud of him.

@insonh213 жыл бұрын
@spencergroup the reason all of today's music sounds the same is because it is the same and 90% of it is written and produced by one guy................Max Martin he's written music hits for Backstreet Boys Britney Spears Pink Usher Avril Lavigne Jessie J Katy Perry Christina Aguilera Taylor Swift Ariana Grande The Weeknd and others. and it all comes down to a formula, find a beat that everyone likes to listen to play around with it and add different words and choruses to it and everyone will automatically like it people today have been brainwashed into listening to the same song, only the words change and all of the words are written to entice the same outcome you will like this song! it has no originality or soul, it's the McDonald's of music. "the day the music died" wasn't when Buddy Holly died, it died sometime in the 80's and Max Martin killed it

Very cool clip. Beginning in the Seventies, The Midnight Special was the show to watch on Saturday night for easy listening AM radio hits by acts like Helen Reddy, Neil Sedaka and The Captain and Tenille. Meanwhile, Don Kirschner's Rock Concert managed to capture the true cutting-edge musical pioneers like The Allman Brothers, The Eagles and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

Original "Amie" singer/songwriter and Pure Prairie League co-founder Craig Fuller had to leave the band in 1973 to fight a legal battle over his Vietnam War draft status. He would re-emerge in 1987 as the lead singer for the band Little Feat.

From the album "Bustin' Out", combined with "Fallin' in and out of love" is/are simply one(2) of the most perfect song(s) ever written, IMO! Not complicated, by any means, but perfect in it's simplicity. I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore, thanks to KZbin premium! Mainly because they play the 2 songs separately. Sacrilege, I tell you! Very much like the way they break up Journey's "Feelin' That Way", and "Anytime"... Back to this song, I dunno, I guess that since I heard it "correctly" on an old AOR station back in the day for the 1st time, it struck such a "chord" in my guitar playing soul, I felt that I could only dream of writing something as good! Keep in mind, this is my own opinion, don't judge, lol!

If I remember correctly I saw him being interviewed about this part of his life and they were in LA becoming famous and he found himself expecting his first child and decided he needed more it needed a more stable life so he moved back to Nashville. I remember when this song came out and I really liked it. I never paid attention to bands are the band members and never connected Vince Gill to Pure Prairie League until probably 20 years later when I started listening to country music. Vince Gill is one of the most giving musicians in the industry. He’ll go and sit in on sessions just to help bands out. He’s probably on more recorded songs than any other artist in history. I love his Collabs, I love the life that he’s built with Amy Grant and their daughter together they do some really great charity work. They’ll never be another Vince Gill. In my mind the only person close was Roy Clark. I like almost everything Vince Gill puts out and that’s saying a lot because I’m not a trend follower.

Country music didn't click with me back then, but for those that wound up pop hits like Amy, Dance with me, Mr Bo Jangles, The Games people Play, Wichitaw Linemen Nashville Cats etc.. There were many that were country, but often weren't embraced as such. I had no idea till recently that Vince Gill was in Pure Prairy League, let alone lead vocal. I was thrilled when he Joined the Eagles. It took me over 50 years to think of these tunes as Country & it happened because I got to play & sing them along with other late blooming musicians. In fact John Sebastian from Lovin Spoonfuls Nashville Cats is kinda my story to. Although I never payed much attention to it, suddenly the Lap Steel Guitar drew me in like the organ did with rock. They tied everything together & served as a pillow for every instrument to lay on. My oldest son was a die hard Rap - Hip Hop- Reggae guy & after meeting a country girl fell in love with the country sound thru Morgan Wallin. Even after they broke up he's still exploring it as I am. It's funny how after the hit Amy, Vince would wind up with Amy Grant who exploded from her hit Baby Baby.

I am completely dumbfounded. I went to an Eagles concert this past year and Henley introduced VG as a member of the band. What a hard task. He was really good. Really good. (I was more into Zappa and Tull during my college years. Didn’t pay much attention to country unless it was Sour Mash). While at Bemidji State a band called Pure Prairie League came to play at the hockey arena. They had one song I was familiar with. “Amie”. It had that Eagle’s harmonizing feel. I did not know that VG was a member. Didn’t know who he was. I made the connection last night! Nice surprise. Making plans to see him in concert this December. And I get a long time to become familiar with his music!

Years ago, c. 1978, I was flying to Chicago from Cleveland where a business associate (sales rep) friend of mine sold me a 1969 Fender Telecaster. This was right around the time UNITED DC-10 Flight 191 crashed out of O’Hare on takeoff. My inbound DC-10 was delayed to land because of weather. In a thunderstorm and to appease nervous passengers, the airline supplied free drinks as we circled over Lake Michigan waiting to land. After landing and heading to baggage claim, I decided one more drink was in order because certainly my baggage would be delayed. As I walked into the bar, Fender Telecaster in hand, there were four guys in tie dyes & long hair sipping at the bar. One obvious rocker spotted my guitar and rightly ID’d it as a Tele. I handed my brother-in-strings the guitar, ordered a drink and asked, “Are you guys with a band?” An unacclaimed Vince Gill looked at me and said, “With the band son? We are the band.” Excitedly, I asked who are you? “Pure Prairie League” was his reply. I said, “I saw you guys in Memphis!” Gill looks at me and says, “Lafayette Music Room in Overton Square.” I said, “That’s where I saw you!” Vince chugs his beer and says, “Has to be. Only place we ever played in Memphis.”
