It's amazing how little they changed. I have a 2019 FLHT with 107 Milwaukee Eight and of course it is more refined and modern, but the styling is just spot on ditto.

Very nice shape for an '83. I had an '85 FLTCU. I owned it for almost twenty years. It was such an improvement over my '81 Electric Glide shovelhead! Yours is a nice clean example of the old shovelhead dressers.

BEAUTIFUL MACHINE!! Most people don't even know this but in 1983 they had the option of getting a rubber mounted shovelhead engine linked up to a 5 speed (chain drive) or a solid mounted shovelhead engine linked up with a solid mounted 4 speed (belt drive). No brainer to me, you've got the one I'd want!! Thanks for sharing!

@@Harleysenzo You definitely have a show bike! 1st year of the 5 speed FLHT. That rear passenger backrest and grab bar shouldn't be too hard to obtain but you gotta know what you're looking for. Id be curious to know if a 1984-1985 passenger back rest and grab bar would be compatible, they shared the exact same everything except for the motor. Also if you were to consider putting the original ham can style of air box on it you'd probably have fitment issues with the S&S carb. That's one of the only issues with the S&S is that the enrichment lever isn't compatible with anything. I'd probably just leave it as is, it'll run way better with the S&S air box on it. The Keihin butterfly carbs of that era weren't all that good but given the choice I'd choose the S&S.
