I remember some of the minigames being straight up broken. There was a trampoline minigame that wouldn't register when I was moving the remote to jump. Also the music box minigame wouldn't even play the music half the time, which sucked because I loved the minigame so much because of the music.

I rather doubt it. Shovels have been weaponized long before the game. I'm sure it came about as most ideas do, couple of guys sitting around talking shit. Next thing you know knights and shovels becomes a thing. But unlike most of us these guys actually did something with their "stupid idea" and made something brilliant out of it. It's why I constantly tell my son to write down his stupid ideas, because some day they might be useful.

Carnival Games is seriously one of my daughter’s favorite series and we try to collect them all. We really enjoy playing obscure multiplayer games around here. So called “shovelware” titles don’t usually cost much and if we have one fun evening playing a new game, I consider it worthwhile. I was really surprised that Carnival Games came to the PSVR and Switch but apparently they are selling, otherwise, we wouldn’t keep getting sequels. One of my personal favorite “shovelware” games was Sneak King for Xbox 360. Sneaking up on people as the Burger King and trying to convince them to eat your food is both creepy and awkwardly fun at the same time. If there’s ever a sequel, I’ll be there to get it for sure!

I remember picking up a game called ‘The Dog Island’ from the box it looked like a shovelware game as it was from a brand that sold calendars the brand was ‘THE DOG’. Upon start up your greeted by a child’s voice singing a song with animated dogs doing cute stuff and you can’t help but cringe and want to turn it off. However the game was huge and had an entire open world full of stuff to do in it as well as the story missions. It was actually damn good. Seriously one of the more memorable and surprising wii games for me.
