That was the sickest harmonica solo I’ve heard mick play on midnight rambler. Ever. I love the way that Keith Richards looks at Mick when he is playing that solo and standing right next to him. He’s like oh yeah, that’s my dog.

Nice to see Emotional Rescue make an appearance - great funky bass work from Darryl. Always great to see She's A Rainbow - sounded fantastic. And a welcome tour debut of Dead Flowers, especially with some Keith harmony vocals. Solid performances all around. Most important, the whole band really seems to be enjoying themselves - some wonderful little interactions. Enjoy Cleveland.

I’m 63 and I’m loving this. I’ve seen them 6 times and been a fan since I as 6 (1967) and heard my older siblings playing their records. I remember in high school in 1977 my friends telling me the Stones are washed up and too old. I mean I was listening to the Clash and other new bands back then but I knew the Stones had staying power. I wonder if my friends are still listening to Styx and Prism. Lol. Cheers from Montreal .

I love that the stones are doing this. I started listening to the stones in the 60's. I wish McCartney would do this instead of playing the same setlist over and over. I couldn't even begin to tell you what songs I wish they would do I'd be on here for way to long. Just as long as they're mixing up the set list that's all that counts for me. I've seen the stones in the 60s 70s 80s 90s and beyond. Have a good time at the concert.

The Stones are sounding better and better every show that they do on this tour. I just love the way Keith sings on Dead Flowers. Many times Keith have been a bit unfocused when doing his background vocals on that song but nowadays he is right on the spot and he's singing almost exactly as the studioversion! Terrific recap, Justin, with great video clips, thank you. Can't wait for my July 5th Vancouver show! I'd love to see "Out of Time" return to the setlist, as their live version early on in this tour, and in the 2022 tour, was a great sing-along. Great stat concerning the number of different songs so far on this tour, 37, I didn't think it was that high, but good on you to remind us of the band's versatility. By the way, it seems we've all come to accept that a former staple like "Brown Sugar" is dead and buried, essentially forced off the setlist in a delayed (half-century) reaction to its lyrics, a self-imposed reaction no less by the boys not wanting to be embroiled with any hint of controversy at this stage of their career. They probably prefer being asked why they're not playing it rather than why are they still playing it. I totally get it, and think it's a wise descision on their part. I, personally, do not miss it, having heard it so many times in previous tours, but, until the 2021 tour, it was as much a regular as any song in their catalog. Thanks again, Justin.

I would have taken Live With Me by a hair but everyone I talked to said Monkey. My friend his whole section moaned and one guy booed when they chose Emotional Rescue. That said, it ended up being great and most agreed. I f'n loved it and didn't even really care for the song prior to the show. Now it is eternally stuck in my head lol.. @reluctantblumpkin6 ай бұрын
Mick still being able to not only do emotional rescue justice, but in the original key & with authority, is impressive. That's not exactly the type of song you envision the artist recreating perfectly nearly a half century after recording! Possibly a curmudgeonly take, but special guests joining the stones generally comes across as a "make a wish" foundation gift to the special guest, in my opinion. The ecstatic guest achieves their lifetime goal of "jamming with the stones", but guest versions are never my go to for re-listens. It's always so joyous of an occasion for the guest that a cringe element is seemingly unavoidably injected into the song at hand. Which is understandable. I'm the kind of Stones fan that prefers ONLY the core band and for everything to sound like demos so nothing is hiding or burying the Stones guitars i want to hear.
@peterchecksfield99586 ай бұрын
I'm with you there. I only really liked those long-gone guests that had been amongst their influences (Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Hubert Sumlin). That said, I'd love to see Chris Farlowe guesting on 'Out Of Time'!
@HangFireStonesPodcast6 ай бұрын
I hear you. It really all depends on the guest themselves. The secret to a good guest spot is that they take the bull by the horn and be a good counter to Mick. The guest spot really benefits the band more than the audience. I invite you to take a look at Childers' performance; Mick is really tickled by it, when Ronnie goes into the solo it's great fun to see Childers enjoying the whole scene in front of him. I think that excitement travels through the band. Lady Gaga , Keith Urban, John Mayer, Florence Welch all had really great guest spots that added instead of substracted!
