Show Chrome Rider Backrest for 2018+ Honda Goldwing Installation

I have the same one and love it. The only thing I changed was I did mot use the cheap looking vinyl plug cover. I used the original plastic plug and simply removed the hold down strap and made a slot in the top for the rest to slide through then crazy glued it in place. Looks so much nicer and cleaner.

Have you got photos of this? Ive also been looking to have a new bike look, when the seat is removed..i.e. using the original seat plug.

Nice and very informative video. Heck I don’t even own a 6th generation Goldwing! I would however state that although the backrest is well made and a quality item, I find the embossed pattern is incongruous with the bland lack of pattern of the seat. For instance my Markland backrest on my 5th gen has a pattern in it that looks OEM and matches my seat. Oh well. Again an excellent quality video and I hope your assistant didn’t ride off with your bike!

Which Manufacturers Backrest is the Best for 2023 Goldwing DCT? Utopia or Show Chrome or Kuriakyn ? I seen yor video on both Show Chrome and Utopia.. Now Confused lol. Thanks Again for your great videos. Also can you come with an idea, as to how one could prevent the Nut and washer falling to engine below , while removing the Seat?

I think I prefer the looks of the Show Chrome. Both are good. Never tried the Kury.

I am currently riding with the Platinum backrest from Show Chrome, but I have also used the Utopia. Both are good. I would shy away from the Honda OEM backrest.

Hi Cruiseman. I saw a video you did on an insert replacement of the framing around the hole for the drivers backrest that is much better than the one that comes with the showchrome removable backrest. I cannot for the life of me find that on your channel or wingstuff website. can you point me in the right direction? Thanks so much.

Will this backrest adjust forward for shorter Riders, and you think the way it mount to the back of the backrest is strong enough to hold up for a while? To me it looks a bit weak the way it mounts to the backrest. Thanks!

Yes, you can loosen the hinge bolt and tip the backreast forward, then re-tighten.

The 2022 TDC I test rode on had the Honda backrest on but I could not rest on it with my hands on the bars "I'm 5:10" and there isn't a way to adjust it back and foreword.

You meant DCT. You are right about the Honda optional backrest. I found this to look nice but not comfortable. It’s got limited range of adjustment. I’m also 5’10 and use this Show Chrome backrest on my 22 DCT Tour airbag and absolutely love it. It’s angular and great look for this bike. The issue with your reach is distance to the bars is seating position which can be alleviated with the Heli Bar risers.p which I also added. It’s well made product. Check it out here on KZbin. You or your dealer can install those. If you are not mechanical allow your dealer to install. These will bring bars back and slightly up about an 1”. With the adjustability of this Show Chrome backrest it’s prefect for me. Even with Highway Pegs. All good.
