Almost no fake drama, no dramatic music, knowledgable and universally respected professional judges, after the initial rounds positive criticism where possible.

I like how the judges' opinions are delivered in the UK show. Objective, kind, and fair. No ego and attitude.

There's plenty of ego and attitude, it's just the contestants here are very talented. Way more than 99% of American cooking shows. These are all proper chefs; not the usual clowns on Food Network

@caraarslan These are all professionals. You give your opinion and move on. The recipient of the opinion looks crestfallen for a bit and then goes away and ups his or her game. No need for theatrics. 🙂

The comments from Monica Greg and Marcus are awesome. I really look forward to their words because - as with other Michel et. al, they don’t mince words. They tell you what you NEED to hear, not necessarily what you WANT to hear. Nice clip!

I remember this series. This chef should have won. He was outstanding from the very start but in the Semi's he made a small mistake and they knocked him out because of it. He had been the most consistent stand out chef. I felt really quite sorry for him.

I love it when a judge says, "A nice, simple dish". WTH? The only way to make the dish actually more complicated is to do it in zero gravity.

Uk shows are so emotion-lacking. It’s like robots are doing the show and people are so phlegmatic in UK that’s is just not interesting at all. There’s no fire and sense of competition in them. It’s like watching elderly cooking show or something.
