Kanami wrote the first cut, and she said her intention was to push both vocalists a bit higher than their normal range. The Warning had a lot of input, though, and songwriting credits are shared between Miku and The Warning. Ale said she's fascinated by how MISA palms a pick--not sure if she'll start trying it. What's funny is that, to me, it sounds more like a Warning song, but Dani says it's quite different than their usual fare. I think this is the best all-English track that Band-Maid's ever done, so there's hope to expand their reach. Saiki said she learned a lot of phonations from Dani, who's essentially a native speaker.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う。 I witnessed the live debut of this song 😍 that was played as the encore & finale of the special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Roppongi, Tokyo . My seat was located on the 2nd floor but in the center meaning in front of the two drummers. I was in bliss! It looked to me that Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed to see which drummer can kick harder enough to break their bass drum in the joint performance. 🤣

The more I think about it ... yes there's been tons of collaborations before between all kind of artists and bands - but two WHOLE BANDS together? I can't really remember, usually it's the singer of band A with band B, or band A with guitarplayer from band B - you see the picture. Even on special occasions like "The Last Waltz" or "Concert for Bangla Desh" and so on, there were different members of different bands on stage but two whole different bands? I'm still searching.

I am going to put one that I can think of that is going to be pretty obscure and without question not to the taste of most people reading this, but Finish psychedelic black metal band "Oranssi Pazuzu" and Finish psychedelic drone doom metal band "Dark Buddha Rising" created an album together (with all 10 members) under the name "Waste Of Space Orchestra" (I know all the names are weird). The result is a sound that is closer to Dark Buddha Rising than it is to Oranssi Pazuzu although Oranssi Pazuzu has been going more droney on their latest album so maybe it was just a logical thing for them to do. Not trying to diminish this fantastic collab and I am sure there aren't a lot that combined both bands together, but this is one I can think of with the metal experience I have from before I discovered the Japanese rock/metal scene. And since I love Oranssi Pazuzu and enjoy both the collab and Dark Buddha Rising (I know them the least) as well, I couldn't help to mention it here, although again I suspect most people will not like them.

Always great to see you Chase. An awesome collaboration. I wasn’t a fan of Bestie, it just sounded like an American pop song to me ( not my thing)This, this is how a collab should be done. I don’t know much about The Warning but the two bands compliment each other beautifully. It’s more of a straight hard rock song which I think is more The Warning but it has all those tasty little bits that you expect from Band Maid. I think you’re right about the vocal amplification. I first heard it in shorts and it was just a clip of the chorus and I thought it was a bit much. In seeing the whole video it’s, as you say, just a small thing and not so noticeable in the overall song. Thanks again for a great review.

Yep, there is room to argue about the mix. Some people say it's completely off, others think it's perfect because it's pretty raw. I can well imagine that with 2 full bands this must be a horror task for the person who has to create the final mix. 🤭 I'm completely with you, it's not about every band giving 100% of what they're capable of. That would also end in chaos, because even if they play in the same genre, both bands have quite different characteristics, which starts with the most obvious, the number of members. In addition, both sides respect each other and ego doesn't play a role. And the more I see/listen to this solo section, the more it becomes clear where the technical differences are.... It's all about having fun. And I think both bands had that and in the end so do we, the respective fan camps. 💥🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Based on an interview with billboard Japan and another by PRS Japan. Kanami wrote the basic demo and then they passed it back and forth. Miku wrote the lyrics and then when the sisters came they made that work. The kanami took Warning in her studio and recorded them and the next day bandmaid. More than one track written by the Warning is ready to be performed when they go to Mexico. The band griped that kanami set it too high for the singers - she said "deal with it" as she does. Ale said its going to be OK when they write it 😂 Oh yes as of this morning it's trending faster than any bandmaid song, possibly ever, because I don't think Thrill took off until some time after release. In comments around the place I'm seeing more bandmaid fan enthusiasm than TW. But I haven't been following Spanish reactors and most bandmaid fans are also The Warning fans going right back to that initial meeting and before.

Great minds must think alike, because I although I really love the groove of the song, my only nitpick is also that the vocals were mixed too far in front (and a tad too dry) of the rest of the music. Had the vocals been pulled back a little and had some slight effects put on, it would be perfect.

Thanks for the reaction! My expectations were exceeded. It's amazing how much BAND-MAID and The Warning were able to create a sound that's halfway between the two of them. And, because they did show some restraint, the song works well on its own terms, not just as a back-and-forth specialty showcase. BAND-MAID can perform it live. And maybe The Warning can adapt a live version, too, though they'll have to strip it down a little to account for just one guitar. I'm always one who wants the lead guitar mixed a little higher. Well, the awesome belting, keening vocals from Saiki and Dany were the core of the song, so they were very front stage during the chorus. Though maybe only a little too much.
Y really like the exteriores of the video. Surely Tokyo of course, you see in the backgrond blured the well know silouete of Tokyo Tower and the night skyline, surely west of the Tower, there´´s some really high building in this área with an heliport.

Agreed about the vocals ... the 'all belting all the time' style is not my favorite but as someone pointed out Kanami wrote this as a challenge for Saiki and Dani so I can certainly live with that ... if Kanami told me she would like to amputate my legs, I guess I could learn to live a legless life ;-) That said, what is this now, Band-Maid's 3rd colab? I don't want to be mean to the other colab partners, but this is by far the best of those colabs ... after 'Dragon's Cry' I was leaning toward the opinion that 'Blues' was the only Kanami 'weakness' ... but this song had some pretty straight forward blues lines, and Kanami turned it up a notch ... I'm pretty particular with my blues guitarists, and don't really like the blues for the most part, but Kanami just vaulted herself into the top of the rock-n-blues charts with her amazing blue's solos on this one.
