So an interesting thing to point out. Quirks are strange things that even the wielders may not fully understand at first. Toru (invisible girl) is a great example of this. On the surface her quirk appears to just be invisibility, but in reality its light refraction. It just defaults to bending light around her to make her seem invisible but with training she became able to refract light so it creates blinding flashes. So her quirk is more complex and versatile than it initially seems.

@@drewbrueckl8555 noting for self, but basically in that example the girl with condensing water quirk might be able to affect things like fog and ice by extracting the water from it making it far more useful in situations against those types. in contrast, she would have a hard time in dry environments, natural or manmade, as well as when too close to fire-based quirks, than if she just had a magicky "create water" quirk

There is no difference in ability level between 1-A and 1-B. 1 just means that they are first years and to make the class more manageable they split it up into an A and B group.

20:43 There's no ranking between 1-A and 1-B. They weren't placed in those classes by performance. 1-B is as good as 1-A at the start. There are just two hero classes and they are considered equal. 1-A has just been the center of a lot of shit that has happened. If it was ranked, Mineta would not be in 1-A and Tetsutetsu and Kirishima would be in the same class.

Yep, class 1B even has students who got in by recommendations just like Shoto and Momo. If they had put all their best into one class, then the recommended ones would have all been together for sure, rather than being spread between the classes.

@@TheLightbane what he does is actually kick some out of the hero course if they are weak or truly not up for heroica. Maybe what you say to. If you read vigilantes the BNH spin off you see his backstory and it is sad and tragic, mostly what he lost and how. Wich gave him his personality

Just to let you know, theoretically, there is no difference in skill between Class 1A and 1B... Its just how the classes are split up. For example, Bakugo or Todoroki could have easily ended up in class 1B despite their actual skills, so even if Aoyama is lagging behind the other members of Class 1A, that actually has no impact on why he got into Class 1A rather than 1B.

Just noticed the thumbnail says season 2… but don’t mind me, I guess. Anyway, I love that Kaminari understands Bakugo not wanting to hurt his friends with his larger attack, since he can relate with his own Quirk’s similar drawbacks. He puts his friends before himself, which is why he listened to Jiro’s advice from the USJ incident to get support gear for improving his Quirk’s control.

Hey I know this reaction was a few months back, but just wanna point something out that people seem to forget. Navel Laser is one of the most deadly attacks in the class. This is why he was able to get into 1-A. Destroy those robots was easy for him. You even see it during the exam. Unfortunately fighting people is harder because he could easily kill someone accidentally.

I love how this episode lets Toru shine😂 her skin is highly refractive and that's why she's invisible but by moving a certain way or holding a specific pose she can channel the light around her and turn herself into a living flashbang. It perfectly illustrates a super creative use of an otherwise rather basic quirk.

I think you missed the real issue of what bakugo said to midoriya - it wasn't that he was being nice, but rather that he brought up his 'borrowed power' - meaning that he remembered what deku said all the way back in season 1, and is still suspicious of where he got his quirk.

Aoyama got into UA by shooting a bunch of robots. Keep in mind A1 and 1B are equally distributed. Both classes have 2 people through recommendations. They don't use the typical anime structure of A class having better entrance scores that B, B than C etc. Also this is like the third time he's saved someone by chance. He's kinda like a plot device character for the writers quite a lot. My crack theory is that he's from the future and was sent to help stir event's into the heroes favour!

In Aoyama's defense, in the combat entrance exam, he was actually able to destroy some of the robots and get points. There are other students in Class 1-A that don't have combat quirks that really don't make sense as to how they passed the combat exam. People like Koda the animal guy, or Hagakure the invisible girl, I'm really unsure how either of them managed to pass the combat exam.

Well, Deku didn't get any points for defeating robots either, he only passed because of rescue points, so Koda and Hagakure probably also saved some people during the entrance exam.

It has been explained in an interview by Horikoshi that the robots from the exam had a "turn off" button hidden on them, who allowed even people with non-combat quirks to defeat robots (shutting them down counted for the points). Mineta was able to trap robots with his grape thingies and turn them off; same with Sero; Hagakure sneaked around and pushed the buttons. This is probably the same for the other non-combatant people in the Hero course.

I have also read that Koda has enhanced strength and toughness that could beat some 1pt robots without even using his quirk, and birds and rats could have hit the off switch.

1-A and 1-B aren't actually ranked higher than each other on-paper. Like, 1-A isn't meant to be the AP course or something, it's just that there are two first-year classes, so one was called A and one was called B, because that's how classes are designated in Japan. Like, no way in fucking hell Mineta, Koda, Aoyama, etc are considered better hero material than basically every person we've met from 1-B, FUCK no.

Just watch the episode where Uraraka fights Bakugou, where Alicia pauses before the scene takes place and gives the idea of Uraraka throwing her jacket to distract Bakugou, then she pauses and this happens. If you pay attention to her "hunches", they are too accurate to be normal.

The thing with Bakugo is it is a sign of respect if he calls you by your name as he calls people he thinks of below him he will say extras and Rude names all the time but he calls them nicknames like Dunce Face and Deku showing he has a bit of respect for his classmates…

Generally speaking I think it's accepted that Hagakure's invisibility is a result of light refraction or something so she can reflec light through herself or something? I don't know for sure.

1A and 1B are equals. 1A doesnt mean they have the top 1-20 of first years in hero course and 1B have the 21-40. They split up the students more or less evenly. Hero course have 4 students who passed through recommendations: Shoto and Yaomomo and there's two in 1B as well. If 1A is the better class, they would put all four of them in 1A along with the top 16 students in hero course entrance exam but they didn't. But to be fair for Aoyama, he did really well during the practical entrance exam. Besides from getting points in taking out the robots, he also saved Izuku so he probably got hero points as well. When the Principal were describing the personalities/qualities of the examinees, they showed Aoyama when Principal Nezu mentioned about "remaining calm under pressure can be a huge advantage." He also knows about Recovery Girl unlike the extras who were clueless. Although he's one of the bottom students in his class, If they made 1A to be the top 20 hero course students, there's still a chance for him to be in it.

Others pointed it out already, but 1A isn't a better class than 1B. They're not ranked, they don't have different requirements of eligibility. They literally just took the 36 students who passed the entrance exam and the 4 who got in on recommendations and randomly split them up into two classes of 20. If it were a matter of "all the best ones go into 1A" then Mineta wouldn't be in this class over people like Shiozaki, Kendo, or most other 1B members. The only difference is 1A happened to be the class that encountered villains earlier, so they got a head start in real world experience. And on the more meta level, they're our main characters so of course we focus on how strong and cool they are more lmao

I mean, even in how they punch, it's pretty different. Though they do both like to throw haymakers and finish fights with fists in faces of fearsome foes, I can't deny that. Weirdo, but capable. I get Bakugo is using a similar technique to his AP shot, but he should just shorten this attack's name to autocannon. I'm imagining Gordon screaming at this creep, especially about washing up. Grenade! This is a HUGE improvement for Denki. He can pace his discharge while actually being able to avoid indiscriminate ranged attacks. Who really needed to worry about his positioning? Whelp, best of luck, slowing them down, extras. I get that you're all second years trying hard, but you're going up against blast, bop, and bzap. Great teamwork on pinning this many. Agreed. Analyze and congratulate after actually accomplishing the objective. Aoyama, hiding again. Kaachan is growing. Slowly, but bit by bit, his rough edges are getting taken care of... still hasn't actually apologized to Deku for the decade of vitriol and telling Deku to take a leap into the next life, but he is markedly less toxic than at the start. Still more toxic than a hero should be, and someone I'd actively avoid having to deal with in a mundane workplace, but not heading for villainy like he could have been at the start. I mean, the physical test wasn't too hard for Aoyama with blasting target drones, and if Mineta can get in, then anyone has a chance. Besides, 1A and 1B aren't supposed to inherently be a greater and lesser class. In theory, they're supposed to be equals starting on a level playing field. The wrist grab feels more like dragging along a child. But this child isn't being petulant or contrarian, he's finding his courage. Sure, he was able to step up as the last second in a life or death fight, but stepping up here still holds weight. Everyone mocks being able to control animals up until they see the sky blotted out or hear the swarm. Sacrifice play provides an unintended rally point. I didn't know either when I first saw her do that. It also tells us out her power works, and provides the theoretical implication that she may be able to unbend the light around her to look normal at some point. Ms. Bad touch sneaking in a pass. And with the mental image of Aizawa's feet doing a happy dance while he scowls, we wrap things up for this episode. PSYCHE! The second phase of the mission has begun!

They are both deeply caring boys whose response of choice to injustice and cruelty is a furious fist that flattens evil, but there is a difference of about 100 IQ points along with Deku not being a giant eater like most shonen mains.

@@bthsr7113 Not being a giant eater, having a normal parental figure from the very start of the show and actually planning things instead of blindly jumping in every single time while screaming loudly. Not to mention having "Super power that hurts you for using it" and actually sticking to having repercussions for using it (instead of forgetting about it or even turning it out into another power-up later). Oh, and his behavioral "quirks" are really tame compared to other shonen protagoninst (mumbling and exagerrated crying) and even those are less and less frequent as the show goes on

I like Alicia's explanation of Bakugo's behavior/language. Another way I'd compare it; Bakugo's use of insults similar to how some friends call eachother 'bitch' casually. If you get a nickname, even as insulting as it may be kinda even shows a deeper level of acknowledgement from him- since he *bothered* to give you a 'custom insult' rather than a generic one. Yes it's kinda toxic, especially because he also does it to hide his emotions as well. But when you pay attention to who he's talking to, what he says and when he says it, you can see the difference between him actually insulting somone vs basically saying 'dude' or 'homie' but more aggressively.

Crazy coincidence to suspect that specific character, in a situation that has literally nothing to do with those suspicions, suddenly and out-of-the-blue, with zero evidence whatsoever! And then she covers herself by backpedaling just a little bit. That way when its revealed, she can say, "Thats what I said!" And then talk, yet again, about her "crackhead theories." Have you not watched anything else of her's? Its a pattern in all of her shows. Just keep watching, after it is all properly revealed, she will pat herself on the back and call everyone who questioned how she could "guess" that a boogiedy hater.

His plan to save Kacchan had no fighting involved and he wasn't even the crux of it! In this episode alone he acted as a decoy and let the rest setup traps so there was no need to fight. The only times he resorts to fighting is when he doesn't have any other choice and even then his plans are more so about how to best approach a situation. Hell his whole style is now more focused on kicking than punching! So "Deku's plans ALWAYS devolve to "and then I punch them real hard" is just flat out wrong. I understand it in Alicia's case cause it was a joke, but don't defend it as if it's fact xD
