If the internet existed back in the 80s, Show-ya would've taken over the world.

The Japanese were doing the same strategy used by K-pop today. By emulating Western music, they thought they could capture the American market. The internet was far too undeveloped at the time for any practical attempt for that to succeed, but there were definitely BBS that would trade the names of songs and new releases. I still think the Japanese did a better job of emulating rock music than the Koreans did trying to adapt hip hop.

@@Shaker626 Japan has one of the very best scenes in all of metal. Unfortunately they get eclipsed by their American/British counterparts. In a lot of cases i prefer Japanese bands to the other two
I'm a die-hard metalhead since 2001, particularly '80s metal. Never knew many Japanese bands other than Loudness, Anthem and Vow Wow (sadly very limited promotion outside of Japan it seems), but I'm digging deeper into the old school Japanese metal scene and instantly found this. Absolutely loving it, been cranking Outerlimits for days now! Greetings from Sweden

I just recently discovered Japanese metal. Seikima-II is another good band from the 80s.

Seikima-II is very good, they remind me of Judas Priest and Mercyful Fate a bit. Found some other Japanese metal bands and albums in the past few weeks that I can recommend to anyone just getting into it: X-Ray ("Tradition Breaker"), Earthshaker ("Fugitive"), Terra Rosa ("The Endless Basis"), Starless ("Silver Wings")..... Also some random name drops: Dead End, Blizard, Wolf, Sabbrabells, Rajas... I personally have to dig deeper into those, though. Ofc the ones I already knew like Anthem and Bow/Vow Wow are essential heavy metal in my book, highly recommended for '80s metal maniacs like myself.

Vowwow and sow-ya were used in a commercial by the same company a long time ago.
I only just found Show-Ya, the sound, the performance, I've been looking for some new music to listen to and I'm absolutely floored. This is the kind of music that I miss listening to.

Great isn’t it!?! I highly recommend you check out a current J metal female band named Nemophila, they are SHOW-YA’s direct descendants with alot of other influences from east and west, go to their official KZbin channel and you will see they cover “Fairy” and “I am the Storm “, they are my favorite band of all time I believe, great originals, wonderful live… thanks to them I found SHOW-YA , X Japan, and a lot of other great Japanese bands and music!

Grandma (Obaa-chan) of Japanese metal!!! にほんさいこう!!
This was the 80's heavy's. Keiko was damn queen of japanese heavy's. I think the only remaing active heavy's from japan are NINGEN ISU, anthem, saber tiger.
She looks so damn cool. The outfit and body and voice... everything.

“I Am a Stormy Woman”_WATASHI ha ARASHI_(1989)SHOW-YA Lyrics: Yoshihiko Ando, music: Keiko Terada, arrangement: Masanori Sasaji and SHOW-YA Released June 7, 1989: 9th single (English translation of rough lyrics meaning) As if I was swept away by the wind That blew like an endless stream I chased the lightning that shone so brightly The stormy sky we both saw that day Nothing has changed. Now it's a dead age where dreams can't be born That's just a man's line What changed your mind that you were so strong? I hope you'll never betray yourself I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame Once more I'll set our world ablaze Blowin'you Women wear glass masks We can hide our true faces from the world And yet, somewhere inside, A man always has a rusty dream that he can't get rid of For the sake of love, even if it hurts I fear nothing now I want to go back to that night in the middle of a distant storm The lightning that ran through us both I am the woman of miracles I open this night that has been closed up And let it go I give birth to the future We can feel each other forever You can get! The lightning that calls tomorrow Woo Woo Now it's ripping through the sky I'm a strong woman like a storm I'll blow away the false peace I'm burning like a flame I want to burn once more The fire of our life Blowin'you SHOW-YA is a Japanese Hard Rock Heavy Metal band with five female members. The band is a pioneer of Japanese girls metal bands composed entirely of women in the 1980s. The predecessor of the band was the band "Medusa" with vocalist Keiko Terada and keyboardist Miki Nakamura, which later changed its name to "SHOW-YA". In 1982, the band won the grand prize in the ladies' division of a band contest sponsored by YAMAHA. In 1985, they made their major label debut with Toshiba EMI Japan. Two songs from their seventh album "Outerlimits" released in 1989, their 8th single "Marginal Lovers" and 9th single " I Am a Stormy Woman " became consecutive hits, and the album sold over 600,000 copies, making them the most popular girl metal band in Japan at that time. The band went through member changes, breakups, and reunions, and is one of those rare bands where the original members are still active with a career spanning over 35 years. It is truly regrettable that SHOW-YA did not have the chance to sign a contract with a Western record company to release their works(CDs, DVD) in the global market during their young heyday. SHOW-YA are... KeikoTerada: Vocal Satomi Senba: Bass, chorus Miki (Captain) Nakamura - Keyboards, chorus Miki (Mittan) Tsunoda- Drums, chorus Miki (Sangou ,Third) Igarashi - Guitar, chorus,
