Nice collection. I love the fantagraphics uncle scrooge collection, but I want to comment on the Disney cartoonists mentioned in the video. Yes, Carl Barks invented Scrooge, and Don Rosa wrote these wonderful stories, but, in my opinion, the best scrooge stories were written in Europe, there is some kind of magic in the European stories that you won't find in the American stories. I don't know what it is, but the Scrooge stories written in Italy are by far the best. I remember one really funny one where Scrooge was a Venetian aristocrat who sent Donald on a mission to fight a dragon - it was hilarious. If you read this story you will know exactly what I mean. I love Don Rosa stories, but most of them they have a morale, and, in my opinion, that takes away from the fun factor. In addition, Don Rosa's understanding of 'hilarious' is a story like 'A matter of some gravity', which is OK, but is vastly surpassed by a good old Italian Scrooge story. European stories are pure fun, and the nice thing is that Fantagraphics will be releasing those in North America soon. Btw, if you know French, then I suggest you pickup Les Tresors de Picsou, a quarterly magazine, which has really the best Scrooge stories ever. Note: I think Don Rosa is one of the best cartoonists ever, but he is not the best, as saying that would be unfair to the (IMHO) superior European (Italian) cartoonists.

It is not funny stories but the serious stories that made me love Don Rosa . I don't think his hilarious stories are good but his serious long adventure stories are far better than the Italian stories . There are plenty of funny cartoons all over the world but there are few serious ones like Adventures of Tintin . And Don Rosa's ones are like that

I contacted Fantagraphics a couple of days ago about the Vol. 1 & 2 Box Set, seems like that was a scam, I'll be sure to post this on your other video too just in case. Here's their answer: "Unfortunately this is an apparently un-killable rumor that keeps cropping up, and apparently some scam websites are even selling bogus pre-orders. While we do intend to eventually reprint, it's not currently on our production schedule. We'll be sure to do an official announcement through our website or social media when the set is re-released!"

Thank you for setting that straight. I've looked and looked for that original tweet picture that was shared on FB and couldn't find it again. Now it makes sense. I hope they do end up reprinting it because the 3rp party prices are insane.

Sure, no problem! :) Yeah, I got the 3-6 Box Sets cause the prices on the first one are insane. (plus a couple of Carl Barks volumes). I got them after watching the Cinemassacre video on DuckTales. I still haven't read the Don Rosa sets but I wanted to ask, is it okay if I start with volume 3? or should I get the first two?

So, are "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" comics and the companion stories all included somewhere in the Fantagraphics Don Rosa Library boxed sets? Or can the complete Life and Times of Scrooge only be bought seperately?

They are included in the Fantagraphics box sets. In volumes 8 and 9. That would be the cheaper route, since the Life and Times books are out of print.

Hi Omar, hope you see this and can respond. My wife just bought me the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck on Amazon for $100. I want to buy the Don Rosa library but heard some of the 10 volumes there repeat in the oversized Life and Times? Can you specify all the volumes that repeat? Also, do they repeat 100% or just a little with new material mixed in? I just don’t want to buy straight repeats. A little stock footage here and there is tolerable if the majority is new or exclusive stuff. Thanks in advance!
