I just bought the 4320 as a replacement for my Jabra Evolve2 275--and I love it. Good calling audio quality. Light, grippy but comfortable on my big head. More bang for buck than the Jabra definitely.

I just bought the Focus 2 w/stand ($149 Amazon warehouse deal) and have had it for about a week. Based on this video, the Focus 2 mic sounds way better to me. Way less muffled than the 4320. That said, I'm going to order the 4320 and try both out on colleagues and let them vote. I'd much rather have USB-C charging. Its the one thing I detest about the Focus 2. Edit: Just ordered the 4320 (without stand) for $91 also a warehouse deal.

@@jcloveslv1549 I ended up keeping the focus 2. However, it had a problem. Noise canceling on the mic wasn't working. I didn't realize this for months. I'd even bought my daughter the same headset. So I tried hers and it had the same problem. I eventually concluded that the model just sucks for noise canceling on the mic or that they introduced a bug in some later firmware update. That all changed when my headset mic stopped working altogether. I guess I flipped the boom up too many times to mute and it eventually broke the wire. I tried a bunch of other headsets that all sounded crappy and finally resigned to buy another Focus 2. Turns out the noise canceling on this third set works perfectly. I can run the coffee grinder while talking and the recipients swear that they can't hear anything other than my crystal clear voice. Sucks that I lived with two bad units for 2 years.

I have the focus 2 already, but to be fair, it was very obvious the 4320 has a better sounding mic than focus 2. Its much more stable (and less spiky/pitchy) therefore more comfortable to listen to. Must be due to longer mic/closer position. I don't care for ANC as it hurts my ears and has this awful suction type feel. Lighter and longer battery life is also a plus.

Is the foam rubber (or whatever material is used) on the 4320 that rests on your head replaceable? Also, if these two headsets use different connectors, how is it one can use the same charging stand for both? Or do the headsets charge via some other method (and not the micro usb and usb c) in the charger stand? Or did I just misunderstand you?
@jsfbay13 жыл бұрын
I'll answer my own question about the charging stand and the connectors. The charging stand uses completely separate contacts from the USB-C or micro USB connector. As for whether the rubber material on the top of the 4320 is replaceable, I don't know. I'm going to say no since it at least appears to be solidly attached to the metal headband.

Very good review David. Tough call, listened twice using Bose 700 headset. My opinion is based on pure Mic Quality. 1. With focus 2, I still can hear very faint noise whereas none on 4320. 2. Mic output of 4320 is a little bit fuller and focus 2 is a bit tinny. This could be because of the longer boom of 4320, closer to the mouth. 3. On the outside test, I'm not sure if it's the same amount of wind when 4320 was tested. Wind noise is very minimal. Whereas on focus 2, (the wind could be stronger) the wind noise pretty heard loudly. A retest in the same wind environment? :) Suggestion: can you add snippet of the volume meter when the mic and the noise are playing? From there will see noise is completely flatline when your bit speaking. Again, very close but if I have to pick, I would choose 4320 based on 1-3 above. Question : if I have Poly 4220, is it worth upgrading to 4320? How's the mic Quality of both? :)
@jsfbay13 жыл бұрын
Excellent observations, I completely agree, especially with your comment about the Focus 2 mic sounding more tinny than the 4320. I also agree that the fuller sound is an artifact of the longer mic boom (i.e. the mic is closer to your mouth.) Question - do you hear a bit of clipping/distortion from both headsets when he is talking? I do, most prominently when he raises his voice. Thanks for your post.
@sorka950322 жыл бұрын
The focus 2 actually sounds fuller to me. The vocal frequency response is far wider and into the upper mids and treble while on the 4320 it sounds muffled because so many of the upper mid frequencies are completely cut off.

Thanks for doing this comparison. When testing the mics on both headsets, there's a bit of distortion that I am assuming is clipping somewhere in the signal chain. My question is, is it inherent to the headset, or is the clipping an artifact of how you record the signal, or perhaps an artifact of the computer's sound card? I've heard this occur on many headsets on your channel as well as other channels so I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm planning to use it with Dragon Naturally Speaking, and any sort of distortion is probably going to be a problem. Any thoughts?
@HeadsetAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, this is something we'll have to look into because clipping shouldn't be common on your calls. We will see if its how the videos are recorded and if so, we'll find a way to change it to make it even more accurate.

Yeah I got to say as a musician I feel the 4320 has a much better mic. The Focus 2 is good but it needs a pop filter for the “plosives”… where as the 4320 has doesn’t have those exaggerated P’s and T’s etc. It would be nice to have the elastic band for comfort and the color way… but I get leery on new electronics that rely heavily on software that is almost always rushed out without proper testing. I wish they let you set and forget and not be reliant on an app

Why did Plantronics make come with a shorter and/or longer mic boom? What’s the difference?
@HeadsetAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
Edward, Poly is one manufacturer that varies the length of their microphone booms. Some, like the Voyager Focus 2 for example, have a shorter microphone boom. Others, are a bit longer. I think it comes down to design preference and what they think not only looks appropriate for the model, but based on the mic technology used, which works best for the specific model.

4320 only uses 2 mic , Focus 2 uses 4 mic . So 4320 need longer boom to achieve similar performance as Focus 2.
