Great video. I do this for a living and I make right-triangles out of each angle and use the Pythagorean theorem. It allows me to cross-check my measurements and have near-perfect repeatable outcomes. MANY pros struggle with this. High school math saves the day!

T-Bevel is a great way to do it, depends on where it is and whether it is vertical or horizontal, I might make a Pattern for the horizontal ones or just take some measurements. There are a few ways to do it.

Why did you not secure with screws/plugs or screws into wood the bottom of the glass to the marble slab and only applied silicon?

Because it will crack the marble MAYBE...Not worth the risk!

No need to screw, that silicone will NOT budge. We've been doing it this way for years. Drilling in marble is an necessary step, and can be BIG problem if you make a mistake.

@@GC83163 Because it's not the silicone holding full weight (or side pressure that could come). The U channel anchored into the wall is mainly responsible for keeping the glass panel in place.

How would I remove existing glass from one of the channels? I want to redo tiles, which involves removing the glass panels. Would heat be used to loosen the glass from the silicone?

You only used screws to secure the channel along the wall, not the base. Just want to confirm that the use of silicone along the base is sufficient to secure along the bottom ?

I've had cinderblock walls swinging on silicon like a door...Once it sets; its hard to break the bond under normal usage...

You do NOT want the silicone on both sides of the profile, because that will eventually trap moisture and won't allow it to flow and dry out. That's how you get mold.

Not the safest way to install Glass or the cleanest. He should use double-sided tape he can also get from CR Lawrence, the silicone on the inside also not a good idea since removal becomes about 10x harder. I know because I work with A&J Custom Glass Ltd. Who have been in the industry since 1998

Wow! genius. you just created a dangerous hinged glass panel. No fasteners in the bottom? when someone leans on it, the silicone breaks loose from the marble and creates a pivot point for the glass to break or come off the wall. Heres the answer, "Hire a local licensed C-17 glazing contractor" Do not attempt to install glass unless you are well qualified.

It looks as if a glass company did the install, but you should always secure any perpendicular panels at the base of all custom shower enclosures. And countersink your screws in the metal channel so they are flush or recessed so the glass edge will never touch that metal. Silicone is not enough. And the Clear plastic setting block he used at the end should have been installed equally under the glass. If the glass squeezes through the silicone when he slides it in it can hit the glass edge and over time with heat, cold, and expansion of glass, it could explode, if the glass was in contact with that metal screw head. Unknown, if it will or will not until it does. General good practices by qualified glass installers are key to glass safety for all homeowners. I guess California has different codes than Michigan?
