I'm trying to re-cut some of my "more mature" videos to be more ad friendly.
I modified some of the "nudity" as an experiment to see what I can get away with.
I actually got this through, so enjoy!
Showgirls Movie review: The Vinnie Cut!
Enjoy!

The rape scene is a point of contention with the viewers. That it's out of place and it makes no sense because Mollie would've slept with him willingly. To that I say: they're half right. It IS out of place given the tone of the rest of the film. But it's not the fact that Mollie would've slept with him willingly. She wanted to sleep with the singer willingly. If you watch that scene, it's evident that he intended to have his entourage run a train on her as well, and that's why she fought back. She didn't want to sleep with the group of men. Also it's a running theme in Verhoven's films where men rape women when they can exert power over them, driving the point home that it's NOT about having sex. I can't remember the film name, but there is a scene where a man is about to assault a woman, but she pretends to be into it and says she wants it, and the man loses interest because she's not fighting back. It's the same here, Mollie would've done it willingly but when it isn't her choice, it turns violent. It's quite a clear message given Verhoven's penchant for displaying realism in certain situations (this film is not a good example of this however). I've never actually seen this movie all the way though. But funny story, back when I lived in Vegas in 2019 my husband and I were driving home from the Asian district after dinner. We took the back roads away from the Strip because it was crowded, and on the back road we actually passed the uh... establishment Nomi works at in the beginning of the film. It was night and the parking lot wasn't well lit at all, but you saw the sign with the lips on it, and OH was that a trip. I was geeking out that not only was the place real, but it was STILL open. I did not go in, shady ass looking area. But man what great memories. Viva Las Vegas!

This was a bit too real as far as what Vegas was like in the 80s... Yes I know this was shot in the 90s but the feel was very 80s nostalgia. The pool scene was intense, and I agree the raaap scene shouldve been cut way down, but kept. Your video was cute, it was nice I enjoyed it bud.

Call me shallow but I loved this movie and I loved her character... I'm into musical theater and this had a very "musical theater" vibe which is often overemotional and over the top. The movie is what it is and I appreciated the cinematography and the wonderful dancing and the nudity. I did not appreciate the hairstyle of the lead dude . I don't really care to remember his name. That was the only thing offensive about this movie.

I remember when I was in the Army we flew into Las Vegas airport on our way to NTC in the Mojave desert in California. And we flew in at night time when all the casinos were lit up and this was back in the early 90s. I remember seeing the Pyramid with the beam going up in the sky. We had this squad leader from Inglewood California and he was like, hey all of this should just run off this plane towards the strip the MP's couldn't take all of us down. We all had a good laugh.

I'll never forget when this first came to theaters in 1995. I went to the theater with my oldest brother to watch it. I was 17 at the time. And the employee/s at the theater was giving me a hard time, not wanting to let me in because I was under 18. The rating was NC-17, so I don't know why they gave me trouble. If I recall correctly, it might have been due to me not having an ID to prove my age. But my brother's word should have been good enough. In the end, they finally allowed me in. And I have no memory of what I thought about the movie after first watching it, other than not caring much for it. But it definitely changed my opinions of Elizabeth Berkley forever. I never cared for her since.

It's somewhat disappointing to me that people don't get this movie is satire. A director who specialises in satire, who had made a movie about comodification of gratuitous violence and capitalist values, then another about militarisation of a society and fascism, suddenly decides to make a movie about a young upcoming star who does her best and finally attains the fame she has always craved (a la A Star Is Born), and makes it a serious movie. Really? No one got how this is basically the same formula as RoboCop and Starship Troopers but with sex and a cheap version of Hollywood (Vegas)? Come on, people... Love you, newbee! I am laughing, you are so puritan! I m a fan of Verhoeven, a Dutch men : do you know how free and no puritan are the Dutch people? I saw all his movies made in USA, but he s still a Dutch in all his movies, all his movies are very realistic, showing yes the true bad side of men and women, the power, the battle between the 2 sexes. The first movie I ve seen was the flesh and the blood, it s was shocking, really, it was before USA... After I think that because of money the American didn't see all the caricatures that he made about USA : police, army, sexuality, puritanism, propaganda etc... The last film I saw was made in France with a very good actrice, and the same type of movie! Cruel, but true... You can never forget that kind of movie... Show girls speak very well about the horrible world of dance, competitions, hate, and yes put pearls on the floor to have the job, I heard worth from my friends... Having sex to have the job... Wow it s a old story, the difference here is that Nomi is strong, and is not frightened with men, like when hit the singer, she s tall, athletic no problem... She bi sexuel yes, she assumes totally pleasure like men do.! What the point? Verhoeven is violent ok until 18y not accepted...I m a fan lol sorry for my English...

I'm MORE THAN embarrassed to admit that I've seen this movie probably 30-40 times in total. I used to watch it all the time on VH1 so it was censored like crazy. I never sat down to watch the uncensored version until about 2 years ago and I've never been the same since. 🤦‍♀️🥺 I much prefer your censorship. If the whole movie was just muppets I'd watch it every day. 😂

I couldn't stand to watch that, but I am finding I just watch these reviews instead of the movies. Movies like 'With Teeth?', and "Terrifier'. I used to work at a restaurant in an old building with a movie theatre they shut down and just left there with the doors closed. Apparently 'Show Girls' was still printed in letters on a entrance. That guy may be irrelevant, but a little tube steak is in there to hold the girls attention. ottawarewind.com/2014/01/18/ottawas-abandoned-1200-seat-downtown-movie-theatre/ also i.cbc.ca/1.2512004.1390782330!/fileImage/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/4x3_1180/place-de-ville-theatre-1990s.jpg

The problem with Showgirls is that it doesn't go far enough with the satire. What we see in the movie isn't really shocking. Even in 1995 being told that Vegas is a sleazy place filled with creeps wasn't a new revelation. Robocop worked as satire because it went one step beyond what is expected like Kenny getting killed. Without that over the top element Showgirls is basically exactly what it claims to satirise.

You didn't get it. Oops. Didn't you read that the hyperbole, flatness, unlikeability and superficiality were intentional?

Oh my god I subbed to this account back in 2016 with my old account. I think you only had a few hundred subscribers then. Glad to see your progress!

Very entertaining review of Showgirls, some people completely avoid this movie and some forget it ever existed and I'm not one of those people. This 100th episode is so good, I will be looking forward to when you get to your 200th episode. You so totally rock Bee Man.

If this gets enough likes you’re gonna hate me. You gotta do slaughtered vomit dolls. Fair warning, it’s known to be worse than all three human centipede’s, worse than a Serbian film even. By the end of it you won’t be able to lift a finger let alone make a fist

The movie would have been a lot better if they had but the entire cast of Saved by the Bell in it instead of Gina Gershon they should have cast Tiffani Amber Thiessen instead of Gina Rivera they should have cast Lark Voorhies and you know that Glenn Plummer role should have went to Dustin Diamond that part had Screech written all over it.
