As others have said, this was a 50/50 collab between the two bands. If you watch the official live video of his son at Fox Fest, it's Babymetal's Kami Band playing, with Kevin and Nico joining them on stage.

This is not an attack, but I don't understand why BM fans seem so keen on bringing up the "50/50"-thing under every reaction video. It is a lot more complicated. They first said that, but the interviews that came out since then tell a different story. Both bands said in interviews that EC wrote the song and sent it to BM for them to add their elements to it and BM said in an interview that they love "We Got The Moves" from EC and tried to write their own fun song their audience could dance to, but failed and so they contacted EC and asked for a collaboration, which then took the shape I mentioned above, with EC handing a song to BM. I'm not putting down BM. The song would be nowhere near as fun and memorable without them, but to anyone who knows both bands it is pretty clear that this is way more a typical EC song than a BM song and I doubt we can expect more like this from BM on their own, unless they perhaps learned how to do silly fun songs now. Time will tell.

There have been a few interviews since this released and they have talked quite a bit about the making of this song and video. The song is actually a full 50/50 collaboration rather than a feature; both bands are playing it as part of their live sets on the current European summer festival circuit. Su-metal explained in the interview at Rock Am Ring that they were working on a song with an Electric Callboy kind of energy, but it wasn't really working, so they decided to ask EC to collaborate with them on it. The two bands met in Boston last year when Babymetal attended EC's show and it was during that meeting that they began talking about the collab. The song went back and forth between EC and Babymetal about 20 times, and they only settled on the final version during the shooting of the music video. EC were initially not sold on the "Fu! Fu!", which apparently is a big thing in karaoke in Japan, but Babymetal insisted on it, and given how the crowd reacted at FOX_FEST and at the festivals they have been playing in Europe, it was the right call. I was at FOX_FEST and hearing 20,000 people going "Fu! Fu!" is quite an experience. The EC boys talked the making of the video and about encouraging Babymetal to come out of their shells and do a bit of acting and show more of a playful side, which everyone seems to have found endearing and refreshing. They also mentioned that each of the wall breaking scenes was a single take. They only had one of each wall, so they had to make it count.

Zeke from Mammal (aussie rock band, distinctly hard riffs but also very funky and danceable with an iconoclast vocalist who has very strong political opinions...you can see where this comparison is going) used to wear one for live shows back in the 2000s. Great band. If you look up their newer stuff like Keanu Reeves they're going for the 'the song is silly but the music is serious' in some tracks

@@TrangleC I really don't care who contributed what unless the result looks and sounds like Ratatata. The fact that BabyMetal iniciated the collab (which doesn't contradict what EC said as they were just more vage on how it came about) and that the framework was created by EC doesn't mean the final product isn't 50/50. EC were very clear that BM's team and themselves send it back and forth many many times and did alot of rewriting on both ends, adapting to the ideas from the other side.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I fortunately witnessed the live debut and the second performance of RATATATA by BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy together in the two-day Fox_Fest on May 25 / 26 in Japan. Fun, happy, exhilarating, bubbly... Those words I could think of, as you can imagine. There were many mosh / circle pits over there 🤣. On Day-1, the girls and Nico / Kevin hugged each other (and group hug) to celebrate the success of the live debut (heartwarming!!) ★ You can find the official LIVE video in KZbin !! The song was played in the BABYMETAL's setlist in the festival. So the band in the back of the girls and Nico / Kevin was BM's West Kami Band in place of EC band that played in this MV. On this 50:50 collaboration basis, that was great, too. The interchangeability between the two versatile bands is good. Now the 3 girls and 2 boys are doing this song with EC band in EC shows and with Kami Band in BM shows, in two ways, in some European festivals 💛。

@@TrangleC Babymetal won't bring out a song like this on their own. It's not their style. Babymetal roll through genres and musical style, very few of their songs are like other songs in their catalogue. Don't get me wrong, this is a great song, but it is very formulaic and completely in ECs signature style. It's a fun track, but Babymetal will move on to another style and genre, even if it is another collab with another world-class artist.

@@lencooke944 I don't know much about BM but from what I heard it sounds as if the guy behind it who is in control is kind of a curator-type who hears other bands do stuff he likes and then tells his band to do that too. He also seems to collect musicians. I heard all the musicians in the band are from the USA and Canada now. The band started off Japanese but he just kept hiring people from other bands he heard and liked and replaced one by one. Sounds to me as if, if it weren't for the 3 girls being the faces of the organization, the band wouldn't really have a identity of its own and be more like some 1950s style "Big Band" or orchestra. If that is true then it would explain the impression I got from reading comments by BM fans, that they don't actually care much about the music and are more obsessed with the girls and their dancing.

This was not a feature in any way. If you actually paid attention, you'd see that it was dropped on Babymetal's site. The only reason that it sounds like an EC song is that they have a formula now, this is what they do. Babymetal does NOT. They can adapt to any style. If this wasn't in EC's style, you probably couldn't have identified the vocalists, but when Babymetal enters, no matter WHAT style, it's theirs...
