It can depend on the employer aswell. I remember once applying for a few jobs and one wasn't keen on the layout of the CV and the other was lol!

How do you know all of this stuff if you don't work in HR department or do you ?

I don’t think you have to work in an HR department to know some of these things. Successful experience is helpful to share. Keep it up C

Cover letters should fill just half of the page and for CVs one page is enough. If someone has experience about 20 years in her/his field that would be 2 pages of CV.
