You say arrange for what you have none of the three programs truely did that. I find it hilarious alot of this commentary is so full personal vendetta and trivial bias. I will say valley was the only one of the three wjo did somewhat utilize their instrumentation. Stillman tried to blow their faces off as did coahoma(excuse me if i misspelled). Valley was not the worse of the 3. In fact they actually did pretty good with song selection and overall entertainment. I feel as though we should speak with our statements based on logic and unbiased rather than being web trolls just to be disruptive towards one another. All programs were amazing and it was a good turn out for each organization but let us state facts and not opinions based on foolishness

I support all programs especially the ones from the Delta but It's hard to do that when they sound the same on every song. They played so many rap tunes and it got boring (my opinion though)

As far as dance is concerned, MVSU SATIN DOLLS WERE ON FIRE! I'm very impressed with the improvement, cleanliness, and execution of that group! Job well done ladies! Coahoma's danceline did a decent job too. Stillman's group has a lot of work too.

Does anyone thinks the Alto Saxophone is a good instrument to play? Even though it's a woodwind. The reason why I ask that because I play it at North Panola and I'm the 🐐 at playing it and I sometimes feel like playing the Sax isn't good. I rather play something like French Horn/Mellophones, Baritone and etc. I just need some good advice. The Sax isn't loud as other instruments, I wish though.

Nick Brown sax is an amazing when it come to any ensemble. Nowadays woodwinds dont receive proper attention when it comes to certain styles of hbcu bands but it is an amazing instrument and is almost always used ranging from adding color to various chords and melodies and even in most cases stacked up with other sections such as trumpets and mellos. It is not a matter of sounding loud but of musical clarity and fullness. Never forget the goal of band is never to play loud but to play with fullness, detail and showmanship. Continue to work on your craft because saxophone players are always needed and greatly appreciated in the stands and in concert ensembles.

Dude, I was also the 🐐 on saxophone at East St John High. I was thinking of trying to play mello since there are not that many strong members(except trombones and 1 tuba), plus our band is a little bit small consisting of a lot of woodwinds.

Honestly you guys are excitiny, your arrangements aren't that attention grabbing either. Now when Valley came to Gulfport for the MLK parade/battle of the bands I think it was in '15 (y'all played that Bang-Bang) you guys were actually heading in the right direction. Y'all just seem to be I don't onoe...not progressing. Then with what I'm about to say next is just my opinion. You guys seem to mimic JSU from the drums to the drum majors. I think that kind of hurts you all because the first thing id think is best just go to valley when I can got to JSU. I say start incorporating a valley style. 3 band in the state and y'all sharing the same style 🤷🏾‍♂️ but that's just my thought

Jeremy T. Perryman actually no one has copied JSU ... Valley has a distinct sound aside from JSU. All three schools have history ...I think a lot of people misconstrue what they think a each band should sound like, and it’s based off opinions. Valley had some good spots there as well tho....IMO a SWAC band should’ve had their way with this battle being that you go against tougher competition than this every week during the fall and should be better in every aspect ...better prepared...trained better...more impressive arrangements other than tap songs...BUT they let these 2 bands overall perform better than them....👀👀 STILLMAN is definitely about to be a problem in the upcoming years if they keep progressing like this! ...1st year director and they already sounding like this?! I apologize Mr @@cameronhollingshead5842, I mean not to offend no one....I just call it how I see it... I wasn't there, i just based my commit of the video. I know very little about these schools...as matter of fact I NEVER even heard of Stiillman or Coahoma until Today....LOL. My people are from Indianola, MS so I have family that went to MVS...But here is my logical but honest OPINION! MVS was almost double the size of Stillman and was bigger than Coahoma but sounded like a really good High School Band... Very little discipline musically... Alot of missed and bad notes, no control. Drumline over played offend, and hardly NO CRANK! The 2 cymbal player go hard!!!! But that just me! Dancers was nice though! 🤷‍♂️

Rayshawn Wren what you are telling is that i should sit idle and listen to a group of people talk about the program i came from and say nothing. Unlike most of these student from ccc i can think critically about what im hearing it is what i studied so without bias i can make a level headed judgement on what sounds decent and what does not. Yes it is my opinion and yes he is entitled to his as are you but if you will bash one persons program without any rationale just be sure to expect the ramifications that come with it. I dont have beef with anyone but alot of what is being thrown out in this comment section is sheer nonsense from a group that finally started getting some notoriety and is now letting it go to their heads. Coahoma With The W Stillman Valley CCC was the most consistent. They have that punch behind their sound! Stillman is on the up and come up, whew Mellos (2 thumbs up). Heard some good things out of Stillman. I look forward to seeing them progress. Valley.....you literally just finished a SWAC season 💁🏽‍♂️ You had one job which was to annihilate these non SWAC Bands lol...Valley tubas and percussion 100! Overall, good job to all 3 bands that came and supported that event!
