Another usage for bar soap is: If you have a door or a dresser drawer or a kitchen cabinet drawer/door that sticks a little, rub the bar soap on the area(s) where it sticks. GREAT Irish Spring hacks- Here is 1 more that I use to stop deer from eating our bush leave and fruit from trees, I heard when hung on a stick in a garden they will leave tomatoes alone also. They don't like the smell. I hope I can explain what to do without a video. Save the netting that onions come in. I guess you could also use cheese cloth, thin fabric, piece of chicken wire or nylons? Do they make nylons anymore? I usually buy some Irish spring from the dollar tree, cut them in small pieces-maybe about ten to a bar. Cut the netting in thirds, place about 4 pieces of soap on each piece of netting, bring up the netting like a pouch. Cut a piece of string, fishing line or whatever about 12 inches long tie the top of the pouch hang it from tree or bush. It works for me. I have a lot of deer.

Strongly Disagree on the mice deterent. I read this suggestion elsewhere, bought a case and shredded it to protect a new $3000 pool cover. Delivered in spring, stored til fall. Got my new pool cover out of the garbage can in the shed (with the Irish spring shavings in the can and sprinkled generously around and inside shed) and was Mortified of all the mouse damage! I had to use 3" gorilla tape inside and out to seal/cover of all the holes before install. OMG We've had very little damage in the past 9 years to our old cover, Before the Irish Spring. Never had holes big enough to tape.....til now. Also, told my girlfriend about putting it in her RV (another suggester)(I never tested it out first).....she said they ATE it and loved it apparently. She wasn't happy about her damage either. Just our personal experiences. Not a mice deterent.

At 4:12 you should DEFINITELY TELL the PAINTER that you rubbed soap on that. Because If you don't get it ALL OFF, the next coat of paint won't even last a year. The soap will remain BETWEEN the old and new layers and will prevent the binding agent in the paint from BONDING. The paint will dry and shrink as it is supposed to do, but as it shrinks it WILL separate from the surface.

When I first saw the thumbnail I thought maybe it was going to be the hack I use for one of the best shaving soaps I've ever used. I just grate Men's Dove from the dollar store into my shaving mug and pack it down. The cleansing cream in it gives me the best shave and leaves baby soft skin @ 77 yo. Also, apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap in a jar with holes in the lid lures fruit flies to their doom. Got that one from the tube.

So, after listening to you, and then poking fun at my wife because she has your same northern Midwestern accent, which I find absolutely adorable. I started thinking and came up with a question. Wouldn't it work to take the spray bottle with the Irish Spring solution and spray it around the door frame, or wherever you needed that scent but didn't want any visible traces of the soap? It seems like it would be a much cleaner application, so you wouldn't see any residue like you would when rubbing it on like a big crayon, or springing the shavings around. Not to mention, applying it would be so much quicker and easier, and you could apply it whenever you noticed its effectiveness beginning to diminish. This time of year in the Phoenix area we get a lot of flies bussing in through our sliding patio door, so I'm thinking I might try making a water solution and spraying it all around the patio area. I'm absolutely going to try this. THANK YOU for this awesome Irish Spring tip.

I hang chunks of Irish Spring in my apple and orange trees, to keep the squirrel's out. Works well....

What does that do to butterflys and bees? If it repells bugs will it kill them?

I use denture cleaning tablets for all the hacks you mention. They work very well and are cheaper than the Alka Selzer tablets.

Anyone notice what appears to be a blue glass marble stuck in the soil at 1:17 into the video?

Those are the glass flat beads/marbles you can get in a bag at Walmart, Michaels and probably Dollar Tree. They're used for decorating and crafting.

I use glass marbles for mulch in potted plants outdoors. Seems to assist in keeping plants moist and also helps keep warm in spring on chilly days. Or so I think.

I can believe that bugs hate Irish Spring. My regular soap was discontinued so I bought a bar 20 years ago. Unwrapped it and placed it in the shower for the next morning. 2:00 am - I woke up with my sinuses on fire - because of that soap - 2 rooms away! Got up, picked it up with a plastic bag so I didn't have to touch it and carried it outside to the trash can so I could get some sleep.

@Clifton McNally. I had a friend years ago who was very allergic to Ivory soap. She broke out in a terrible rash. 99 and 100% pure didn’t work for her.

@@libbyworkman3459 I can't use it either. Just washing my hands in it regularly would cause the skin on my palms to start peeling. I'm also allergic to lanolin.

That seltzer hack is nice!!! I'm going to have to try this at some point. Been using a bit of chlorine on my tea cups and spoons. Not very healthy.

I remember when I was younger my mom used to do the same thing,. Maybe run your dishes through the dishwasher

@@maggiesmith4699 i dont use dishwashers. Im kinda against them. I think they are appliances that should only be used on like occasions like christmas or thanksgiving where you did a lot of work and shouldnt have to wash all that mess by hand. I find them to be a place where bacteria and mould can build up and you just don't notice plus using all that extra electricity... Just not for me

Restaurants are mandated to have chlorine in the water when washing dishes etc also don't forget chlorine is used to purify water.
@Anarky Жыл бұрын
@@g.borgia5100 I know but after seeing all these natural ways of whitening and cleaning I started getting a bit paranoid. I always have a bottle of chlorine in the house because sometimes it's the only way to get a really good clean after it's been a while or when you have many animals and one of them gets sick. You defo have to put chlorine in the cleaning mixture. Also when my bath stains because of dyes or cloves. Nothing else whitens it again WITHOUT scrubbing
