Michael Schenker is the God Father of shredding. Satriani didn't even own a guitar when Schenker were world famous. Last year i have seen Michael Schenker and Joe Satriani live. Both still plays perfect live. I have also see other shredders live last year like Steve Vai, Gus G. and Michael Angelo Bateo.

I was 15 when I first listened to Satriani. It was 1990 or 1991. And I was so happy that the whole songs were guitar solos, no lyrics. It was mind-blowing. I was already a fan of Slash and Vai. Today I think Stevie is more my thing, I like weird stuff now. But back in the day Satriani's melodies were my favorite. Respect for the legend!!

Not always. He played the Peavey JSX signature amp for a while. He's also played a Rockman on some of his records. He seems to have gone back to Marshalls now.

@@neilkendall5499 Yes....I was thinking that one of the reasons Joe was into Marshalls (even if not exclusively) was because EVH was too & a big influence....Ed was playing the same plexiglass front Marshall on recordings for the entire Roth era & in the 1980s the Hagar one. Joe's sound always had a clarity & immediacy to it which Marshall's are very good through.
