love the mix between shred show and a view inside the head off the shaper.

to be honest, even though i enjoyed this video, i think the two styles of video each serve a purpose and the hybrid style kind of dilutes them. the board reviews give us an in depth look as to how the board was constructed and how it will most likely preform and the interviews give us a look into the shaper/designers mind, how they think, what inspires them and how they arrived at the premise of their design theories. but who cares what i think, its your show and you can do what you want, i'll still continue to watch each episode over and over again!

I watched this last night and just picked up a Ledge today. Now all I need is a solid swell. Thanks again for the review.

Rad. Aloha from south shore Oahu. This board seems perfect for the shape of the wave here. I personally feel stoked about the interview section. Surfers everywhere, especially here in hawaii because there are so many people trying to learn what a "shape" does to your surfing, would benefit from a shop like that. Aloha.

Excellent episode. Thanks for keeping it refreshing, Chris.

Chris, I dig this episode and loved having Matt's comments interspersed throughout. Without a more formal introduction giving some background it didn't feel like a shred talk but more like an enhanced shred show. Realizing it is likely more work I would love to see more shred shows like this and still get the occasional shred talk.

Love the setup of all the new videos how its more of a vlog as you go and do your thing and visit other places. This was pretty cool too because we got to hear what you thought of the board as well as the shapers view. loving your vids still!

Shred show rocks, love change the forecast more of that please. Was a little dubious when I started watching this new format, worried it would basically turn into an advert for a shaper. Actually really liked watching shapers perspective pared with your own. Good work.

This video was great! Love the board reviews. Really love the interviews. Keep doing your thing. Whatever you post....I'm gonna watch.

I always wondered how much of the concepts you share on each episode was intel from the shaper itself and how much was deducted by you! I actually think this mix between classic shred shows and the interview format it's great for us to get a clear idea of the boards and shapes you share! Keep mixing it up and working the way around the shows! Great work!

love this way of dong things man used to get a bit bored near the end of your vids, this is a great way of switching up your content.

I like this format and hearing from the shaper himself. It would be cool to see you, or someone else, in action surfing the different boards you are highlighting. That would help to give more of an idea of how it performs in different conditions. Thanks for all the great videos!

Enjoyed it a lot. Good to have the details from the designer along with your overview. Have you considered doing more factory tours and such? Showing the designers making the boards or fiddling with concepts?

Great show! Mixing in some footage of people surfing the board - maybe explaining some principles behind the design that are showcased in the footage - would be sick!

Cool episode, Chris! Something new / experimental-why not? I think it's your creative approach to all these (and sharing the stuff you're amp'd about) that makes these vids work. And I would add this: The surprise factor is one of the things I love about Shred Show. To me, it's WAY more fun not knowing exactly what's going to happen after the opening logo!
@jacobsakcat91898 жыл бұрын
this board is a throwback to the 70's. it is very obvious. although the bottom and rocker have been modernized, the deck and outline are all but identical. i would love to try a scaled down version of this board in a punch beach break. good show...good interview. seems like a cool dude.

Great format, I was thinking about the Shred Talk with Lovelace and was hoping for something like this on the vBowls. I think that there is a lot more you can do with this type of video, such as sharing what you see in the board with the shaper and recording their reactions/thoughts. And really digging in on intent in design like you did with this video. As a heavy consumer of your videos (often many views of the same episode over weeks/months), I've grown in appreciation for your perspective on board design. In this video Matt pointed out something that you haven't focused on much: fin placement relative to the end of the board. It was a small note in the overall video, but I think it added a depth to the review that could only come from this type of format. So keep up the experimentation! It's awesome. With regards to Album surfboards, Matt is the MAN! I've gotten a couple boards from him since you introduced us to him with the Darkness video and am planning on at least a couple more! His color/designs are amazing.

G'day mate, the interviews are really interesting, getting to hear the shapers perspective. Keep in mind as we can't see the boards in the flesh, your technical comments on rockers, rails etc help me know what the boards are like. I would like to know nose & tail width & rocker measurements too. All these tech comments, plus shapers comments combined give the full story. Good work mate.

Hey Chris good job . It's always good to listen to a shapers thoughts on designing boards. Did you rip the top of that wave , you look like your jamming a solid bottom turn. Do you ever think of going back and doing a review on Tomo's Evo? Looking forward to your next review .Cheers

Yeah Chris, dig the new format. Keep it up. And I like the alternative board show. There are so many guys you can do this for like, Neal Purchase JR, Tyler Hatzikian, Eden Saul, Tyler Warren, Robin Kegal, etc. Keep it up! Cheers

I think the mashup is Great. I didn't agree with everything he said, but that's fine! I wouldn't want to spend 30 minutes hearing someone gush, but getting insight and feedback directly from shapers is awesome. I spent time on the Album website after, they have some really nice looking boards. Look forward to more!

Hey man love all your videos, this was a cool change up and I definitely enjoyed it. I do like the super detailed Shred Show videos though. I think it would be cool if you either took videos of yourself surfing or of other people surfing the boards you're talking about, so you can show and pinpoint how the board reacts or give a visual to the concepts you're explaining. I'm not new to surfing but I'm not particularly skilled either so I think that would give surfers like me or new surfers a better understanding. P.S. your FW Baked Potato video pretty much has me convinced that is going to be my next board!! Keep up the good work man!

I enjoyed it but if they were all like this it makes the video much longer. Maybe a quick overview of the board first and then go into more depth for those with time and interest. I always make time but am lucky to work from home. Yes looks like quite a few single fins I had in the 70's. Good work! Thanks!!!

I have a Pucas Original 69er which is based on the same basic principles as The Ledge, thin pin tail and fishy wide point quite far up the board.I have an absolute love hate relationship with it. It carves great and the tail feels really free, but it is the most unforgiving board I have ever surfed. Put your feet in the wrong place and the board flaps up and down in a way that makes recovery almost impossible. Its weird.

It's cool to have the shaper's opinion on a board you're showing, but the remaining shred talk content could have been its own shaper related episode... I vote keeping them separate, but do like specific board comments by the shaper in the board review...

Just keep recording my friend! No need to worry, no format needed, surfboards are in them, people will watch! Shred stories... mic drop
