Can you imagine if you joined Megadeth tomorrow? Trying to live up to Dave Mustaine's level 666 expectations is no easy task. Well, today we're gonna see if new kid on the block Teemu Mantysaari can hang with Dave playing HOLY WARS. Will he be able to shred through Marty Friedman's complicated solos without tripping up? Wheewwww, I'm getting nervous just thinking about it!!!

you have to remember what was going on back in the late 80s when dave and co. wrote holy wars, skull n bones, former head of CIA, one of the co-conspirators who helped assassinate JFK, Papa George H. Bush was the president and started the , once again fraudulent 1st Gulf War with Saddam in the middle east around the time Dave wrote rust in peace....

Dave's interview:"We currently have a guitar player situation, where our current guitar player is a man named Teemu Mäntysaari and our regular guitar player was Kiko Loureiro, Kiko had some issues. He went home and Teemu came in, and people are losing their minds over how things are going right now 'cause we have a really good chemistry together.' According to Mustaine, MEGADETH has been able to change up its setlist a bit as a result of the guitarist switch. "We've got a bunch of songs from our catalog that we're playing, a bunch of new songs too," he said. "We've been able to add a bunch of songs to the set because Teemu was a metal fan. Kiko did not grow up baptized in metal… Like the show we did a couple of nights ago, we opened with 'Hangar [18]' and then we followed it up with 'Mechanix'. We've never done that before, so it's a pretty heavy beginning. And we've added a second track off of the new album with 'Soldier On!', and we're getting ready to add a third." Rock on Teemu \,,/

I’d feel bad if kiko is out of the band because the fill in guy knows more songs but at the same time I’ve seen megadeth play the same songs for like 10 years straight so it is cool to see them switch up the set a bit, tbh I’d love to see them not play symphony, peace, holy wars, or trust ever again

I feel like Dave's just being a dickhead. It's disingenuous to say this about Kikko as he was literally in another band called Angra. So, I find it hard to believe he didn't know these other songs. unless he just never learned, which would be a different issue in and of itself.
@allendean9807
@allendean9807 Жыл бұрын
@@doctorwankensteintv8171 at the end of the day, Megadeth is a platform to increase your optics. You’ll never be more that a bit player by design. The only member who ever stayed far longer than he should have was David Ellefson. And took the brunt of Dave’s addiction, abuse, and vile behavior. Dave the hypocrite fired Ellefson for acting the SAME way he acted before he found god, and his wife got a great prenup. I have actual photos of mustaine after sleeping with a dancer friend of my wife in the 90’s. Everyone who has left Megadeth tells the same story; it’s Dave’s show. You’re just a hired gun. Kiko is lucky this went down the way it did. Every lead guitarist who has left Megadeth has to face the shit talking by mustaine, because being a decent human being never occurs to the guy. I’ve met him on many occasions. He has ZERO sense of humor, and a chip on his shoulder the size of a small sedan. He wrote some fantastic metal back in the 90’s, and one or two great songs sprinkled in between. As a fan, I’ll just listen to the music. Because the man himself isn’t worth my time.

Teemu vs Kiko vs Marty? I’m a drummer, and to me all three are amazing. I can’t tell who’s better. I hope things are going ok for Kiko. I’m also glad Teemu could step in so quickly. Maybe going forward they take turns? Teemu does one tour, Kiko does the next? And maybe Marty will continue to join in once in a while. I’m just glad that Megadeth is still going strong.

Saw Teemu in MN. The show was so much fun with Teemu. I don't like Kikos jumping around and weird mods to the solos. Teemu played other peoples writings to the style originally prescribed better then any player including Marty. When he played Poland, it was Poland...Marty. it was Marty. Most fun I have had at a Megadeth show. Teemu may develop to the point that Marty would have to study the original solos he wrote. He is really good and the no BS look is refreshing.

@PhantomDeth
@PhantomDeth Жыл бұрын
He was suffering before the treatment.. He has blown his voice out around 2010.. He's actually improved considerably vocally since his Cancer treatment.. He has said that the difference now is he can't produce saliva the same way.. And needs to manufacture it using hard boiled sweets and honey to keep lubricated.. His clarity is very noticeable compared to the early last decade.. His vocals were sort of blending together then due to his lack of mouth movement and clarity.. Very tight.. Now he's more fully sounding the words out.. You can make out the words better live than on some records now.. Which is a considerable improvement.. The Conjuring for example.. Its hard enough to tell what's being said on the album recording of that song.. But not live.. Dave nails that song to.. He wouldn't dare touch that song a few years ago due to his vocal troubles.. Nows it's a set regular. Does Dave struggle still? Yes.. Of course... He will have good days and bad.. And that's OK. He's 61 years old.. He's been doing this for 40 years.. Its acceptable to me that someone as unique vocally as Mustaine continues to deliver what he can vocally.. There isn't any other band of Megadeths age that is touring as much as they are.. Megadeth tours more than bands half their age.

Holy Wars is about when Dave spouted his mouth off about the IRA conflict in the UK a few decades ago. He kinda generalized it so it wouldn't be so on the nose, but it was based purely on the Ireland situation and him saying some things he shouldn't have said. It's telling that almost everyone thinks of the Middle East when they hear of this song and it had nothing to do with that.

I understand people not liking Dave's singing voice. He's not for everyone. But my gosh his voice fits that music perfectly. He can carry a tune - a must for a singer - and he has that gritty quality that works in the overall context of the band. Someone should do Megadeth songs with a Justin Timberlane voiceover or maybe Bob Goulet (sp?) just so folks can see how ridiculous it sounds. James Hetfield didnt want to be a singer either but without his voice it's not Metallica.

Teemu lacks Marty's rich and velvety vibrato like a fine wine..that makes a great difference. Apart from that, he's a really good player...better than Kiko who's butchering the solos.

It’s one thing to execute playing someone else’s riffs or solos, and entirely something else to have put in the time writing the composition. IMO Chris Poland and Marty Friedman are the 2 best lead guitarist of Megadeth’s past.

Lol Dave gets Teemu out the way after the solo. I thought it was still Kiko after I had heard rumors that Kiko had dipped. Guess it's not a rumor anymore.

I read an interview with Mustaine around the time Marty had recorded his first album with Megadeth. Dave said that he had learned so much from Marty, technique-wise, ie scales and cleaning up his playing to not be so sloppy. Conversely Dave had taught Marty to be more "rocky" in his approach because Megadeth's music is very different than Cacophony's music. I thought that came out very well in their albums. A combination that just rocked!

I think 99% people would disagree and HARD. Plenty of people don't wanna listen to MD because of Dave's voice and many complain and wonder what would the band be like with a "better singer". Me? surely not the best singer, but I'm a BIG fan of his voice and think it's one of the main ingredients in their original sound. I love it

dave is an awful singer. you can like megadeth while understanding that. he's a good guitar player, but a bad singer, and that's okay. he's the frontman of megadeth, so he doesn't need to be that good.

If he's the frontman, then he should be good imho. Tho, I guess his biggest talent was his songwriting.@@Celatra

Shred, when you were referencing the key and the chromaticism of the second part of the song, you were talking about it in the original key of E, instead of the whole step down difference they play it in now. I thought you knew everything and now I don't know what to believe.

Im a huge megadeth fan but does no one else hear daves voice getting worse and worse plus he screws up the solo. I get it, he had throat cancer and can solo what he wants but its like no one else notices.
