So we are here to start a huge franchise in movie world and it started in 2001 starring voice actors Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz. This is SHREK. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to save their home -- not to mention his -- Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) to be Farquaad's bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

To answer your question Shrek takes place in the Fairy Tale world and it is also a take on it as in with this twist on it and yeah the Prince did fight a Dragon in Sleeping Beauty but I'm glad to see y'all react to Shrek and excited to see y'all watch the other films these are classic Animated movies

Fun Fact Chris Farley was originally cast as Shrek and they recorded his lines for the movie but sadly he passed away and all his lines were completed so they recasted the role

Yes and it turned out that Mike Myers was the better actor to voice Shrek anyway. It wouldn’t have been the hit that it was had Farley done the voice
