the creator of dreamworks (Jeffrey Katzenberg) actually worked at disney before he left and when he created. he resigned from disney because of tensions upon the conclusion of his contract. Stanley Gold said "his ego and almost pathological need to be important", then Katzenberg created dreamworks and then shrek as revenge of disney and mocked their storylines of true loves first kiss

Dude I am Donkey in this movie on the bridge, I literally did that at Mammoth Caves. We walked over the bottomless pit and there was a metal bridge we had to cross over the bottomless pit, but the bridge was metal and grated and you could see through the bottom of the bridge into the bottomless pit...I flipped out halfway through when I saw down and saw I was like "S**T!" and the person behind me was like "What?" and I said exactly like Donkey "I looked down!" so yeah, Donkey "SHERCK! I'M LOOKIN DOWN!!!"

It's been so long since I watched Shrek, but seeing you enjoying it so much made me remember how much it made me laugh way back when I only had movies to entertain me in what was a fairly solitary childhood. This reaction gave me serious nostalgia, haha. By the by, if you ever want to try to react to an animated movie that isn't Disney or Dreamworks, I highly recommend "The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole" or "Wolfwalker". The former is a 2010 3d-animated film about owls fighting a war in a beautiful fantasy world; the latter is this gorgeous hand-drawn animation about a girl's encounter with a mystical race of people who can command wolves.

2:30 - That’s easy. 😆 Animated movies take an average 4 years or so to make. Taking into account that this was released in 2001, remember that Jeffrey Katzenburg had just been resigned/fired from Disney in about 1995 and he was hot and bothered and ready to stick it to Mickey Mouse. It got past the pitch because the new exec was ready to FIGHT. 🥊
