Please be aware of fake frames, although they look the same, they could be dangerous. But hey you decide if it's worth it to do an experiment. I definitely wouldn't

There are a lot of fake Project ones in China. They’re still pretty expensive here relatively speaking. The quality of a fake frame really depends on which factory made it. The quality will vary depending on who made it and the care in the layup process. Mainstream brands pay the factory, pay taxes shipping, pay a wholesaler, pay a shop that adds on profit. Chinese “real” bikes sell direct from their own factory. The total cost sent to you for a quality Chinese bike is usually about 500 USD with delivery, factory costs, wages within China. They sell for 40% extra. A mould costs 50,000 USD and you can get 20 bikes from one mould. This isn’t any different to “big brands” that are made in the same factories, as they do not have their own. The only bike company with “it’s own factory” is Specialized in Shenzen. However Winspace is 300m away. Canyon… made in Shanghai by Yoeleo and Rollingstone. Factor is made by Seka light carbon make for others, as do Hongfu. Cervelo, Argon 18, Quintana Roo, Scott, Giant and a whole host of others are made in Shandong by Pardus… I helped my friend Rob to become the distributor for them in Europe. He runs Pardus in France. I also know the engineer of Elves (a woman). She designs many parts for literally every foreign company. Hunt… factory stock bought off of Farsports Shenzhen stick wheels with stickers on. They assemble the spokes, hubs and rims in the UK and then can legally put a sticker saying “made in the UK”… there are other brands that do this too such as Revolver; only they cost 4x the price and we’re used by a sponsored rider (Alex Dowsett). They also created /present fake marketing jargon (like they all do), claiming their “carbon copy Farsports wheels” are the fastest in the world, with graphs and made up technical jargon. It’s all a scam. If you find a fake frame and can find out the origin of where it was made, it won’t be discernibly different if the factory is decent. The price reflects how incredibly cheap these things are to make and still gain a big profit. Not sure about other fake bikes, but the most popular are Pinarello. The ones made by “Pragma” are no different to the original. There is a lot of unsafe copy crap out too, like portly made Cipollinis with low quality materials, bb she’ll engineering, haphazard layups that load sheer forces and crap quality accessory parts Everything is made here…. and they justify the high prices, saying there is better quality control… Well there isn’t because during Covid for 2 years+, there were no foreign business people/technicians here. After Chinese people made their Franes (as before) , Chinese people also did the quality control. They’re mostly women in their 30s. I can get better quality control on a Chinese frame than a foreign one by getting to know the factory managers on wechat and asking them to personally check everything when it’s made. The bike industry is all a marketing scam. New bikes are not faster at all. The way you make yourself faster is by buying a frame sized down with narrow bars and a long stem. Body position is 80% of the game. 20% of say 350 watts is 70 watts to play with. Even if you say generously say that a new frame is “5% better”… that’s 5% of 70w at 350w power (17.5w). It’s a law of diminishing returns. They are looking at 0.5-1% improvements in reality (1.75-3.5w) at 350w. The gains come from adopting barrier bars (10w) and having a lower/stack and longer reach (20-30w) Chinese brands like Rollingstone, Elves, Yoeleo, Seka, Onirii and Bross are the same or better…. They are custom made upon your order. You can keep tabs on how the production is going and request special attention to how it is made. Most of the time custom colours is free. You can have a color scheme with Elves for example that is unique for no extra cost. A “good bike” doesn’t need to cost the earth. It’s become a status symbol or something gullible people part money with at a price that’s the same as a decent car. Anyway, sorry for rambling. I stumbled across your video after looking at a fake Project One bike with groupset and wheels for 3000 USD on an app called “Plenty of Fish” here. Best of luck! I rambled on quite a bit 😂

@@RG6Snipers For frames: Elves, Rollingstone (same factory as Canyon in Shanghai, Winspace (made 300m away from Specialized in the same business park in Xiamen) and Pardus (make Cervello, some Giant, Argon 18 and Quintanaroo amongst others. I have both a Rollinstone and an Elves. Excellently made. My buddy Rob is the distributor for Pardus in Europe based in France. Pardus is made in Shandong in the biggest factory in China. There is also ICAN of whom make quality stuff. As for wheels… Farsports are the producers of Hunt (exactly the same bought from their factory and then assembled in the UK). Winspace make quality wheels too. I forgot Yoeleo… good for both frame and wheels. Made in the same factory as Rollingstone and Canyon. Hope that helps :)

@@RG6Snipers I would buy the parts separately. Elves, Yoeleo and Rollingstone can provide complete bikes, as too Pardus. Personally I rate Farsports wheels. Many companies sell their wheels with a sticker on for 3x the price and make up marketing blurb.

Why are these bikes being made? Cuz, the road bikes are becoming more and more expensive. And people want to look cool and have something with brand name. I know looking cool is not the only thing, safety also matters. But I know people who has Chinese frame bikes that smoke others on expensive brand name bikes. Without any issues. The bike is still doing great. I think it depends on a few things, Patients and luck. Most of the known brand names are made in China... So I believe you have to be patient and do a good search and research. I ride an original Bianchi 928L (2007) myself. I see a lot of Oltre XR4 's that are counterfeit instead of having countervail.. lol hahahaha. But seeing that much riding them with no problem( for now) makes you curious. Thanks for sharing. That Madone looks good man... That's another bike that got my attention.

Chinese replicas are heavier than originals. I guess they are made with lower grade carbon and/or reinforced in critical areas to prevent failure.
