Mythology Fact: Loosely based on William Steig's fairytale picture book of the same name. The character of Shrek (Mike Myers) is based on a figure of the same name in Russian folklore, dating as far back as 1200 AD. That's Dark Fact: When the fairytale creatures arrive at Shrek's (Mike Myers) swamp, you can see Papa Bear comforting Baby Bear at a fire. Later in Lord Farquaad's (John Lithgow) castle, as he watches Fiona (Cameron Diaz) on the mirror you see Mama Bear as a rug, skinned, and laying on the floor. Voice Play Fact: The principal actors never met each other. They all read their parts separately, with a reader feeding them the lines. John Lithgow later admitted that, while he enjoyed playing Lord Farquaad, he was a little disappointed that he never actually worked directly with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, or Eddie Murphy. Music Enthusiast Fact: The song All Star (1999) by Smash Mouth, heard in the opening credits, was only a placeholder for test screenings until a new song could be found. But test audiences loved it, and the producers kept it in. When the producers decided to keep All Star (1999) they decided to let the band perform the last song in the movie, I'm A Believer (2001). No True Scot Fact: Mike Myers originally voiced Shrek with his natural speaking voice before the film was test-screened. Then he tried country Canadian accents for Shrek. However, after viewing a rough cut of the film, he felt that something was missing from his performance, and re-recorded all of his lines with a Scottish accent, based on the voice his mother used when reading him bedtime stories as a child. The original voice can still be heard in the technical goofs on the DVD. The decision to revoice Shrek in a Scottish accent ended up costing an additional $4 million, as it took him twenty sessions to complete the re-voiceover. This was his first voice performance in an animated film.

You were correct about the voice of the king, it’s John Lithgow. Most people question how they got away with using Disney characters. The characters they used are not original Disney. Most are from the Brothers Grimm stories which are much darker than what Disney turns it into. I just love that they’re making so much fun of it all. “Dead broad off the table”, I love that line. You really must continue the series. These were done right. Have you watched, So I Married an Axe Murderer? Mike Meyers star in that and it’s brilliant, but rudely overlooked. He plays multiple characters. One has a Scottish accent. Totally worth the watch.

Chris Farley was originally going to play Shrek before he overdosed. I hate that it happened, but I don't think Shrek wouldn't have been near as big without Mike Meyers.

He did about 90% of the movie one video said. They even have clips of Shrek anamated differently because he originally looked more like Farley. And it wasn't a Scottish accent just Farley normal speaking voice.

Honestly I find this movie good (the second one is the best) except for the miscomunication plot twist (or whatever it's called). My fav part was always the castle rescue segment. I always get weirded out by the original donkey's and shrek's voices since I'm so accostumed to the latin spanish dub 😅 (Donkey's voice is higher pitch and Shrek's voice is gruffier and less irish(?) ). I guess that's the power of nostalgia Thank you for the reaction!

Hey Mr Newfie! By any chance if you read this, I really really really would love a reaction to the movie "Dracula: Dead and Loving it" - its an older movie, starring Leslie Nielson (The Naked Gun Series Movies Actor) and directed by Mel Brooks (who did Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights etc lots of comedies). Anyway, the movie is like supposed to be A Dracula storytelling but its a comedy, its one of my fav comedy movies ever and I would so love love to see you react to it. idk where you get your movies from to watch, but I could always gift-rent you the movie to watch for a reaction on here if thats possible, idk how it works. Yes, that's right. I wish I could ship to other places, but to ship to Canada I'd have to collect my own GST Tax as well as our dollar is so low right now, which means I would have to price the items much higher to make any profit. To ship to other countries like the UK, I would have to allow product returns and exchanges but due to the nature of print-on-demand clothing, and the fact I only make $2 profit per shirt, it would cost me money to ship to other countries. So it has to be the USA only, unfortunately.
