In this video we cycle from Shrewsbury to Hartlebury using as much of the old Severn Valley Line as possible as we follow route 45 of the national cycle network. We start at Sutton bridge junction and pass through Ironbridge, Bridgnorth, Bewdley and Stourport-on-Severn.
We also see the Wroxeter Roman city and the Ironbridge Gorge world heritage site.

Mug. Great to be one of the new subscribers. Great details in your videos very informative and inspiring for me to get out on my bike. I have been going through your older video's that are mostly around my local area so plenty of miles for me to be getting on with. Best Wishes to you and please keep the video's coming. AL

I like your friendly presentation and your thoroughness in depicting the routes, well done for that. I used in the heady days when Sustrans routes were a new thing, to support them and try to plan holidays around their routes, but, after a few experiences I was disillusioned and made my own routes using OS maps and, if needed, main roads. Sustrans were a great organisation at the time, and much good was done, but anyone telling you there is a National Cycle Network in this country is making a Mug of you. I have 2 NCN routes where I live, but they're only signs on posts on existing dangerous roads, not one piece of infrastructure. Netherlands, now they have a national route network to boast of, we can only dream. Keep up the good work though, very enjoyable films.

Thank you, glad your enjoying the videos. I find vast differences in the network which I believe comes down to local councils and there various different levels of caring. We need a centralised system with national standards to stop us getting mugged off. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video, thanks for doing this. I've ridden between Bridgnorth and Hartlebury using sections of the route on road bike but you've inspired me to look into doing the entire route from Shrewsbury - my 90s rigid mountain bike would be ideal. Plenty of opportunities for a mug of tea en-route 😁👍.

Yep plenty of places to stop for a good mug of your favourite beverage. A 90,s MTB would do the job nicely for this route with the right tyres. Thanks for watching!

I ride that route 45 with my mountain biking buddy Mark, we set off from Wolverhampton out through Pattingham, Sutton Madock down into Ironbridge then to Bridgnorth for a we'll deserved MUG of coffee at greggs in high town then back through Claverley home to Wolverhampton 46 miles on a good day 😊

I think the stretch between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is my favourite part of that ride, and Bridgnorth is a great pace to grab a mug of coffee. The lanes around pattingham are make for lovely riding. Thanks for watching!

Interesting video, shows some good aspects of National Cycle routes. I hope the Mug on offer holds a good amount of tea, can't be doing with a tiny Mug. Going to watch the Birmingham to Shrewsbury video next.

Been looking forward to this one. Quite a few familiar places. You've given me an idea for my next adventure, out from Bromsgrove to Telford then back on the SVR to Kiddy. I did wonder why people were calling you a mug in the comments 😆

Thanks for another great and very informative video, I aim to try and make Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury sometime soon, although would love to try this whole route one day! I'd also like to mention that I've followed the SVR line down as far as Shienton using the A458 and the old trackbed is mostly intact, a couple of bridges have lost their spans, but wouldn't it be amazing if it could be repurposed like the part in Shrewsbury into a cycle track down into Buildwas. The old SVR cycle path in Shrewsbury is great fun to ride, I've been known to let out a 'Choo Choo' as I pass under the surviving bridge :)

I love riding on old railways and it would be amazing to have this line made into one. With the redevelopment of the power station site I’m hoping we can at least get an extension of what we have from Ironbridge to Buildwas. Thanks for watching!

As a local Cycling mug to the area I found this route interesting. Well I do the last sections of it once or twice a Week . The bit from Shrewsbury to Ironbridge I have not tried. May give it a go if i can get up to Shrewsbury with the bike on the train or something. Yes a cross bike or MTB with a light file tread should do it well.

For the part between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth is my favourite, so nice to be able to ride on the old track bed but you would be a mug to not give the Shrewsbury to Ironbridge section a go. Thanks for watching!
