Absolutely 💯 ! I heard from my mother people charging some 14000 rs for ten day courses for vipassana... I don't understand these people... They absolutely polluting dhammas innocence purity with business here .. to me Dhamma is not for business there are things which need to be kept in their pristine pure, virgin, innocent form ! Dhamma Vipassana is one of them !

I never went for the Vipassna course but I believe you ... rather I want to believe you. However, kindly don't think people who undergo this course universally become mentally calm enough to grow virtues. I know 4 once very very close friends who rigorously underwent the course multiple times and unfortunately for me, they only became behaviourly so bad that I had to stop the friendships. I still believe Goenka ji is a great teacher and 100% straight forward with not a bit of deceit, what can he do if people undergo the Vipassna course but not do the required. If people do the required then I am 100% sure people will be normal good to others.

I personally experienced what Vipassana is by attending 10 day course. It was one of the best experience of my life and also the experience of trying to know myself better. Words fail me. As Goenkaji mentions in his discourse, it is the reality which one experiences oneself. The reality the way others experience is not the reality for us. Truely amzaing!

great and interesting one.I like his take on rites and rituals. Dalai lama also allowed him to carry on without rites and rituals. but he believes in hell and he is a buddhist ? I thought buddhist dont believe in hell.
@bethlydia019 жыл бұрын
Pabitra Bag I think that his definition of hell is given during a 10-day course and it is simply referring to our own suffering now. If I remember right, he says there is no reward or punishment after death, but rather our suffering occurs now in accordance to the misery we generate in ourselves. If you are interested, you could go to www.dhamma.org and read about vipassana there and also contact an Assistant Teacher who can represent vipassana most accurately. (Choose a contact name given for a region of vipassana and request from them to ask a question of a teacher and they can pass your question along)
@Dr.Pabitra9 жыл бұрын
from your writing i can infer that the understanding of hell has nothing to do with the idea of life after death.can i ?my concern was that whether he has categorically denied the existence of hell or not? Thank you for the link www.dhamma.org

there are descriptions of many types of hells and heavens and also many types of celestial births , depending on ones karma , the enlightened person have a divine vision through which they can see what normal people cant , there are very frightening and fircefull descriptions of those hells that can make you cringe seriously , also there is a book called Garuda Purana with gives you similar information about life after death
@bikkyrana75817 жыл бұрын
Buddhists can believe whatever. However, through continued practice of Vipassana, one surely understands that as soon as one goes against the law of nature, he begins suffering and one can clearly see that the breaking of law of nature is the path towards hell..... anyways to ans your ques, yes buddhists believe in both heaven and hell however they aim to go neither of them...aim is nirvana from these heaven and hell too

Thank you Goenka, Guatema and all those who carried on the teaching and may it not be forgotten until the end of time. Wishing you all happiness, peace and harmony (PS if you don't have any peace... watch the 10 day Vipassana discourses. You will be grateful for the rest of your life). I am so happy I want to cry and this is nothing like the person I used to be. May we all settle our debts of bad karmas of the past smilingly and create no new sankaras as we observe the present moment as it is within the frame work of tge body (kalapas? you are very fortunate watching this video and should devote 10 days of you life at least once to attend the course. It is the direct practice that only helps. Listening the course or about vipasan will only lead you to the 10 day course ( it is free). A very good example is if your body is weak, you will benefit by watching the bodybuilding video but it will help you go to gym. It is the practice at gym which will help you. Vipasana is a gym/mind building technique. Gym for MIND. Just do it.

Charles W. There is no one Buddhism. Tibetan Buddhists or Mahayana Buddhists accepts the vipassana meditation taught by Goenka Ji as foundation teaching common to both early Buddhists and later Mahayana Buddhists. Rituals only play a role when their significance is understood to heighten the effect. As a a student of Geonka myself, I truly honor this great teacher. But as a Tibetan Mahayana Buddhists, I must let you know that there is a great consistency and unity between early Buddhists and later Buddhists. They are not contradictory.

I'm glad Teacher Goenka politely & modestly disapproved rites, rituals & practices of Tibetan/Vajrayana Buddhism and I believe he spoke truthfully without aversion. These Tibetan are Advertising, glorifying & spreading distorted Buddhism.
@chaithanyadass87429 жыл бұрын
For some reasons unknown human consciousness is drawn to rites and rituals. Frankly speaking, we unknowingly involve our selves in rites and rituals (conditioned habit patterns) at workplaces, relationships etc. Vajrayana rites and rituals draws us into the mandalas of human consciousness that vibrate the teachings of Buddha. Honestly I feel all human rites and rituals are holy, unholiness creeps in only when they become hypocritic.
@tenzinlhodup83627 жыл бұрын
Charles W I'm sorry I don't agree with you, rite and ritual is simply devotion to buddha for giving greatest gift to mankind for showing path of enlightenment and dharma. Buddhism is vast and comprehensive. It's has different tradition in different region but important is to follow essence and principle like four noble path.Although Tibetan Buddhism is derived its script from Sanskrit of India , Tibetan Buddhism is most important of source of ancient Buddhist script all over the worldPlz don't malign others without knowing fully about other. The Greatest impurity is ignorance. Free yourself from it. Be pure- Buddha

not really, you dont need anything but your own soul , buddha came and went, forget buddha, we are all buddhas ourselves, do we need to respect him as a god? no, he was clear about it, he said question everything i say, he said nothing about god, than why make him one, you want to respect him? become a buddha yourself.
