Hello Shrimp People!
Welcome to my Orange Neocaridina Shrimp tank, POPULATION EXPLOSION UNDERWAY!
This has inspired me to put this video together.... There are several common denominators in ALL my successful Neocaridina shrimp tanks, so I wanted to share what they are!
This video is geared towards breeding NEOCARIDINA SHRIMP! (does not apply the same way to breeding Caridina)

My shrimp never come out and congregate around a food pellet when I put in there they are always too busy grazing on the plants is that just a good indication that I have a lot of biofilm growing in the tank

Hi so I’m new to your channel and I’m gonna subscribe because the info you give out is really helpful. But I have a question, so. I bought 3 Amano shrimp from my local pet store just to try and keep the algae down a bit. And well... they bred. 2 of the shrimp had babies and I don’t know how to care for them properly. Like do I need to remove them from the tank or do I need to add sea salt to the tank. If you could respond ASAP it would really help me because I don’t want any of the babies to die on me. Thanks x

Wow I didn't know Amano shrimps breed while still in freshwater! Well yes unfortunately amano shrimplets need brackish water so I've read.

I have an RO system I use for my betta tank and am setting up a shrimp tank soon. I wanted to do a moss/wood only tank, am I okay without using a substrate?

hey so I love your videos! question for my caridina keeper friends hey I bought seiryu stone and im setting up my caridina tank. RCS. im using ada Amazonia as my substrate, I plan to put some wood as well. will the stone leach to much KH and fluctuate the ph to much ? or is this stone rather inert? I do see some white lines running through it which are calcium? should I just scrap the stone all together and scape with just wood? after watching more of shrimp life videos im leaning towards just wood...to maximize water peramiters

Seiryu stone will raise your pH.

@@michaelli9441 so is it best to go with just driftwood in my 5.5 gallon or is it okay to use driftwood and a small Seiryu stone with my ada Amazonia soil. for my caridina's. I substantially changed my aquascape from lyesterday to today, only one rock and large piece of driftwood. lmk what you think THANKS Michael

Such gorgeous color shrimp you have.(omg that sounds like the big bad wolf and Red Riding Hood LOL). Two questions for you first how do you deal with gravel vacuuming your substrate with all those little shrimplets? And what lens are you using to photograph and video your shrimp? Hi Carla!!! :) I don't actually vacuum substrate very often, but when I do i feed the shrimp in one corner (most will go to the food pile). When the tank is full of babies its kind of hard not to siphon up a few, so I use a white bucket and once the dirt settles I can see the babies and put them back in the tank. I use my Iphone 11 to make this video

Hi! Recently discovered your channel and loving your content! I recently came into some contact with Hydra in my shrimp tank. And my cherrys have been berried for a week. What can i do to get rid of the Hydra so they won’t harm my shrimplets?

Tai Truong You can get rid of Hydra by using a product called no planaria at half dose

For all the people who want to breed shrimp. These parameters may be perfect. But not needed, so dont let these parameters hold u back. My neo's breed like crazy. PH: 7 -KH 10-15 GH 7-14 (using strips) Btw, i saw a pleco in your tank. Doesn't he eat some shrimp?

Beautiful shrimps I have only 3 atm but I found some worms & some snail look a like with them & are those pests

Yanji Jay so that depends on what the worms look like... I just went nuts tryna figure out what’s been inhabiting my tank thinking it was planaria, all they were was detritus worms and rhabdocoela. They can be beneficial as a clean up crew and food for your fish

If it’s got an arrow shaped head it’s planaria, I’d try and get rid of them. I haven’t done much research other then what I’ve seen in my own tanks. Hope I’ve been helpful.

What’s your thoughts on white ring of death? Have you experienced it? If so, how did you over come it?

I used to get it from doing to big of a water change too often.

Mark Dibble I did probably a 5% water change yesterday and seen my berried shrimp had got the white ring over night... was sad to see her not moving this morning

I do water changes frequently and sometimes (what most would consider) high amounts, never once have I lost a shrimp due to this and rarely ever see a white ring on my shrimp. 5% water change really shouldn't cause a white ring of death. Could be a parameters issue and not a water change issue.. or a combination of things. Import neos also would have a harder time accepting water changes.

I'd advise doing more frequent water smaller changes vs. doing less frequent large water changes. This seems to help avoid issues

So I should make a schedule of when to do water changes? I’ve just been doing it at random I think I let it go for almost 2-3 weeks before I decided to change it yesterday. These are neos from petsmart but i think next time I’ll search for a local hobbyist.

thats unlikely, they should start to see some problems at 24 degrees

@@ShrimpLife weww, they really need that cool Temp,even at 25 is very cool on this tropical country 😎. Hmmm...so from what you know, they want temp between 23 to 24 to be happy and breeding ?

@@Cleeon i think under 23, you can try it and see how they do. I know in Canada, when the summer comes, the shrimp will start to suffer if too hot, neocaridina is better option for hot countries

Yes its pretty basic but most people don't do the combination of those things and won't see the full potential of shrimp thriving and breeding. Nothing is really basic when your inexperienced or new in the hobby :D
