Shrimping in the Ribble Estuary

You could visit one of the potted shrimp places or the folk at fluke who cook the shrimp outside.

Great to find your site,you've got a new follower.How and where do you launch into the Ribble? I've got a 14ft Broom speed boat converted for sea fishing. I've been travelling from manchester to North Wales,but it can be a drag.I've never see much info on the Fylde coast,so your site is just what I needed.

Ah glad to hear mate I appreciate the follow and glad my videos can help. My friend used to have a broom speed boat about 14 ft, I launch opposite seafield road in lytham but other launching spots in star gate and bispham are available if you join the boat clubs :)

@@fishingandherping7681 Thanks for your reply,I have a Vw golf diesel estate front wheel drive,what stage of the tide do you think it would be safe to launch? I'm 76 yrs,but would have a younger mate with me to assist.What's the tide window for launch and retrieve?

@@stanwilson8089 Ok so it is doable at all points of the tide but at points can be tricky, the easiest is the 2-3 hours either side of low tide as there is a significant gradient of slope on the causeway at these points, once the tide is higher than that it is much flatter and so launching and retrieving can be harder :)

@@fishingandherping7681 Thanks,my boat has only about 8" draft,with the outboard it's about another 6".So is the slip solid enough for a two wheel drive even when the tide is low? I can see my boat being very handy around the sandbars.Mine is starboard steer,but it doesn't list to starboard with me in the driving seat.My setback is having a covered bow in front of the dashoard (space)I've taken both back seats out to make more room.

@@fishingandherping7681 could you give more specific markings for shrimp and would it be possible to catch them without a boat and just a push net ? I went fishing for the first time ever the other night in Bispham and caught a plaice and a thorn back ray

@@lyndsaypeet2759 What do you mean by more specific markings? and yes its definitely possible to catch them with a push net I used to do that a lot in granny's bay. Well done on the thornback and the plaice that's a pretty good catch for a first time! :)
