Derek is like a golden retriever - always happy to see you and ready to be genuinely supportive, and will also pee where he wants to and you'll love him anyway, maybe more because it shows independence. Seriously, he's such a refreshing character, especially as he relates to the rest of the ensemble. As an exploration of personality types, being a Derek is now so definitely a good thing. "All I want for my birthday is a Derek" should be on t-shirts.

I like when he stood up to Liz. It's my turn to get the house. If you need space, YOU go find something to do OUT THERE. He loves her completely but he's true to himself too. That's healthy.
