Ah Shropshire is a beautiful county and there's no doubt that Oswestry and Whittington Castle have become powerful remnants of the past there. Very magical, love Whittington Castle. I was the four year old they used to take to feed the ducks there. I always remember that. Went back, and it's timelessly nostalgic. Some things don't change much...Love the legends associated with it. You'd like to think that more than one person might be robbing from the rich to give to the poor at that time. Or maybe it's just a mythic tale that got attached to a number of people.

Magical place i sgree and a relaxing walk, the legend intrigued me, this seemed to fit well but there is story from Nottingham, Lincolnshire. Yorkshire and Leicester area so either a well-traveled chap or was it a name they gave to local hero thieves? opens up some questions don't you think

Shropshire knight as the inspiration for Robin Hood? Mind officially blown! The connections to Whittington Castle, King Arthur, and the rebellious Fulk Fitz Warin III are incredibly intriguing. This is history at its most captivating! 🌟📜🤔

Its curious isn't it, Robin hood characters are attached to a few different areas, was it a nickname for local heroes who went against the tyrant rulers?
@RaymondoLeeTravel Жыл бұрын
@Traveler13 well I personally think they were in nottinghamshire. Will scarlets grave in in my home village and friar tuck came from the same place. Although we will never be able to prove this as lots say they are from Yorkshire.
@Traveler13 Жыл бұрын
@@RaymondoLeeTravel They were on the run as well so were possibly from all over the area, like you say we will never know for sure

Oh this was cool. Didn't know any of this especially about Oswald's tree! Also a beautiful castle. This gatehouse has featured in some tv shows I have watched. I enjoyed this as usual. Fascinating. Love castles ❤

It is a gorgeous place, a place to investigate they say, yes the Oswald tree was an interesting bit of folklore I fell across, a lot of people have done this place so tried to add some different stuff, seems to have worked, went into detail about the Robin hood legend as seemed to make sense👍💗

@@Traveler13 I like to think Robin Hood WAS a real person and then lots of people followed suit 😉 The little coots were sweet, used to see lots of them on the canal and moorhens. Saw a massive rat one day, it was the size of a cat lol, running along the bank. Yes, retaining all the information is another thing lol 😆

@@Walks-with-Dave I like to think the same ye, its similar with King Arthur I think, nearly done the Shropshire legends of him, the coots were cute, lucky to catch them 💗

WHICH Robin Hood? There were many of them, as many rebels, outlaws etc traditionally took the name Robin and often Hood as well. The reason the Robin Hood legends don't seem to match is they're about several different people.
