Hello! The weir was installed to maintain the river level around the main loop of the town - in the summer months it would get very low and the smell was really bad - as you said in the video it was basically an open sewer. Maintaining the level kept it flowing, and removed the effluent. Best regards Mark (Shrewsbury born and bred!)
