Shroud my dude, as a PT myself your elbow needs to have proper range of motion. I literally cannot count how many people, young and old, who say they have hurt themselves then had limited range of motion after the injury which then in 5-10-20 years has developed into chronic pain or near immiobility, not sure how long you've been dealing with this but its only a matter of time as you advance in age. My clients could no longer bend/extened/lift/push/etc., could you imagine not being able to do a push up, or carry your groceries, lift your arm above your head? Because your elbow is messed up? I'm sure your PT is going to say the same thing. When your body is functioning improperly you create imabalances which in turn creates more imbalances/injuries/pain. Saying, "all I would be able to do it touch my shoulder" is near-sighted thinking, not a longterm goal. Also, not to bash you, but it's a little irresposilbe being so popluar to say you are ok with your body not functionig properly which could lead others to think in the same way who potentially have more serious injuries or immobility. Love the more in depth content, keep it up man! Edit: just watched the part of you kicking, man your PT is going to have some fun with you :P

Totally agree. I would confidently say that "I don't care about _(some part of the body)_" is something that 99.999999% of people will regret saying, and they would do anything to go back in time and choose differently

I have dislocated my elbow out of the "cup" with some sharpnels and fractures while parkouring as a 6th grader 11-12 years ago. I remember being in morphine in the hospital and them pulling it back to the cup like 12 times with multiple people before the drug kicking in :D I had some fysio for a small amount of time after the 3 week brace was taken away. My fysio said i should continue going, but i was a active kid who didnt wanna do fysio sessions. And my left arm extends like 90% straight while the right hand over extends by natural. So far the 90% hasnt been a problem in my life and i doubt it will. Is it too late for me to do fysio now as an 23 year old man? And yes Mike really should fix his elbow :D

Shroud, coming from someone that got into a fall during January till now. I can only extend my arm to 20 and flex to 90. What you will face if you can't flex it back to normal is, it will be a bitch on some activity; you can handle groceries, but if it's something heavy and you want to bend the arm for more support; you can't. Also you will have to put a lot of strain on your shoulder. At least try the PT and endure it; endure the first 2 months as much as possible. You might be able to get it back to 100%. Also you can't run if you can't really bend your arms; it just feels weird. At least get it to 120; trust me you won't regret it at all because I regretted my decision. You need around 80 to drive. You need around 80-90 to ride a bicycle. But the important factor to why you should get your ROM back to normal is muscle contraction. You won't feel pain afterwards if you can get it back. I'm struggling to get to 75-90, and it hurts every time. Luckily we are gamers; so we don't see it that necessary. But it will be good if you do PT. All the people out there. Do the fking PT seriously, just endure it. If you can't, ask the doctor to put you to sleep and let him bend it for you.

Pretty sure the guy who said “metabolism is a myth” was talking shorthand cuz it’s Twitch chat and he doesn’t have the room/desire to explain in-depth the intricacies of biochemistry relating to fitness and weight gain/loss. I think, as is evident by his second paragraph, he meant that metabolism being the reason someone is/isn’t fat is a myth. In that case, he’s correct. It’s a popular notion, it’s an easy excuse. Metabolism is related to calorie expenditure and that’s likely why the layman thinks their metabolism is responsible for their excess weight but the reality is we all just need to take responsibility and realize we’re fat cuz we eat too much. Eat less, eat better, take care of your damn selves. I say that with (tough) love.
@powerdove4 жыл бұрын
This is true. Your body can't disobey thermodynamics. I'm about to turn 30 and my poor diet was catching up with me prior to this year, when I committed to eating properly (veggies, a bit of lean protein, healthy fats) and exercise (weightlifting). Up until this year I was under the impression I had a 'fast metabolism', but really it was mostly to do with me not eating that much refined sugar or saturated fat. That said, the beers and sedentary lifestyle were slowly gaining on me until I turned it around.
@spotimpact.4 жыл бұрын

That is not true. I live with my brother and we both have pretty much the same diet and we eat in relatively equal amounts, problem is that i weight 15 kg more then him, and we are in similar height, difference is that i actually do weightlifting 2-4 times a week (for 4 years now) while he doesn't so it definitely has a lot to do with metabolism... One other difference e.g. is that he is doing some physical work for living (but not nearly enough to justify the weight diff.) while I sit in chair when working. Please try to explain this to me if it has nothing to do with metabolism.... and feel free to ask further questions

Also simply stretching every day improves mobility and blood circulation. You need at least 1800calories. And its also where it comes from. And if you don't intake enough your body breaks down muscle to feed itself protein and your body will hold onto everything because its basically in "survival" mode so it won't matter if its healthy food

In many cases someone chokes you don't have to resort to the Heimlich manoeuvre (or dropkick them between the shoulder blades), but in many cases the person is breathing heavily/problematic through the mouth (i.e. through the blocked path, gasping for air) whilst they *should* just breath through the (unblocked path) nose instead. Try and have them take a few big breaths, after which they can probably 'spit' out whatever they were choking on. Also; J9 is right about your elbow; make sure to try & get/keep range; it's likely to become problematic and painful in 10 or 20 years from now, you should try & stay on top of how it feels and what your movement-range is ....

They don't call it the Heimlich manuever now. They call it J thrusts now. If anyone is choking, FOLLOW them if they try to get up and leave the room. Most try to go into a bathroom and that is how many die from choking. Stay with them. And yes, everyone should take a first aid and cpr course. They don't refer to the "Stayin Alive" tune anymore with chest compressions to keep time. There is another tune they refer to now which off the top of my head I cannot remember at the moment. Just any type of cpr is better than nothing so use chest compressions only. 30 and assess. 30 and assess.

i don't think that this message will reach u mike but.. Heimlich is the only way to try to save someone while choking to death don't ever try to slap him on the back because the food that he ate and went to the trachea (which is the windpipe that we breathe with) might have left some space for air to get in or out and help him cough and if we hit him in the back that bol (the food) might close that little window and make things worse ..so only do Heimlich when and only when he can't talk and starts moving around asking by hands for help, those little chokes where he talks and coughs indicates he can get it himself so leave him to do it ..if you cant wrap your hands around him let him stand before a wall or a strong structure , his face towards urs, put ur hands on his stomach and do some strong (not very much tho :) ) pumps untill u feel he took a breath or u saw the bol went out
