Afternoon Michael. Just me, call me a prepper or a survivalists, but i don't plan on just surviving during and after a situation, but thriving after we get through it too. Have the stocks to get through the initial situation and the skills and knowledge to go on. Either name, i prepare.

I always considered myself a survivalist, which to me means someone who has the skills and knowledge to survive. I have always stayed stocked up on things and stuff, but I rely on my skills and knowledge more than my stuff. It will take lots of stuff, knowledge, skills and more to keep ourselves going when the shit hits the fan!

I think learning how to survive came first, but prepping is more versatile and long term. Thanks for this video!

I've always been a survivalist but what that means to me is that I have been focused on surviving what ever I'm faced with like when I got caught in the dark in an area that I wasn't familiar with so had to spend the night rough and cold but I survived

I do foraging, grow my own, starting to do herbal remedies, interested in bushcraft and making shelter and making a campfire to cook on. Also shoot .22 rimfire and got ham licence. I'm not military, or fit, but have good knowledge, and have stockpiled candles, batteries, and camping gas.

My father was a survivalist. Shot twice during combat he survive by eating horse, dogs, bugs and anything else that moved. When I was 14 we hiked 50 miles into the wind river range and stayed there a month. I trained my boys to be survivalist the same way. Making counter balance, dead fall and spring triggers for snares was one of their favorite things to do when they were very young. Traps and snares are the most efficient for hunting, fishing and securing a perimeter.

I hear ya. Better than having a box of antibiotics in your go bag is having a family practitioner in your Mutual Assistance Group. So, network and find a doc. They are often too busy with their professional obligations to prep themselves. Help them prep. They will pay you back by patching up that finger you may have accidentally sliced with that new bushcraft knife you drunken purchased. Ask me how I know.

Might be better if you or one in your family takes a first aid course, even online... and have a family supply of first aid gear. be responsible for our selves. It's not hard. eventually everyone needs to know this information. w hat if they are the last one of their group, they need these skills and much more.

I first came across the term "survivalist" by reading the book series The Survivalist by Jerry Ahern. really opened my eyes back in the mid 1980s. it has only been recently with present world events and the rise of subversive elements rioting and burning cities and assaulting random people at will that I've revisited the idea of preparing to be a survivalist.

Great topic ! Men lived off the land for thousands of years. And most lost that skill just in the last 100 years.

I consider myself a prepper. I like your contrast between bugging in and bugging out. I did my bug out and moved into a remote area. I will remain here till the end no matter what it takes. We have gardens and livestock but we also gather from nature. There really isn't a lot of difference between the groups. Many aspects overlap. Do I dreas all militant? No, but I do have use and train with the gear but my focus is on hunting gathering and preserving

Re Generational Education...in "One Second After", those with hard skills (farming, carpentry, MD/Nurse/EMT...) were the ones leading the way and those with soft skills (software nerds, lawyers, etc...) were just dead weight.

Be careful about deciding whether or not people have useful skills or not l, just because someone is a lawyer they could still be a part of your community and they may be open minded to the times.

Yeager used to say the difference between preppers and survivalists is when the balloon goes up preppers sing Kumbaya and share bread recipes; and survivalists put on leather pants and sharpen their machetes. Tracks

I own and live in a small mobile home park here in northern California. My wife and i have filled it with like minded people. We have combined everything in our preps. I sent my wife and daughters to Thunder Ranch to get trained by Clint. My compound is focusing on self reliance.

I like the distinction you make here. I became a prepper after years of learning survival. Yeah, I can survive comfortably in the wilderness for weeks at a time, but it's not much of a "life" Listen folks... If shtf, what you need to have is a secure location, food, water, composting toilet, entertainment, and weapons. Secure means, a place that is locked down, as in bar the door, board up the windows. Ideally, a place that looks like it's been marked by fema and already ransacked. These are easy precautions anyone can take. Stay holed up, but have an escape route and fallback position (a place where you can watch the house with a scope is best) if you have to go out, do it at night. Practice light and sound discipline. If you can survive that way for two months, most of society (90%) will be gone. Afterwards, resources are going to be everywhere, like loot drops, laying around to be picked up and utilized.

Well said ! What if : Walmart closed their doors due to transportation problems or lack of electricity . 14 days people would go crazy . 21 days the wave of suicides start . Got have enough supplies to carry you through to a new growing season . Game may be gone . Game was hunted out during the Great Depression , and did not come back until the 1970 - 1980s , and only because of government stocking programs . If the powers that be want to eliminate you they have many ways . A survivalist learns as many skills as one can . A prepper is vulnerable once the preps run out . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Michael. I have a question. I am not seed savvy at all. Is there a way to know if seeds are from non-GMO plants? I really don't want GMO. Did I mention that I'm not seed savvy? lol. Thanks, Bro.

The packet of seeds should say if they are gmo or not. I believe seeds marked “heirloom” are not gmo can can be grown and harvested and the seeds replanted forever.
@AsymmetricalPreparedness
@AsymmetricalPreparedness 3 ай бұрын
First you can buy non gmo seeds. Second if you have a 50 lb sack of beans, who cares if they are gmo? Just plant new seeds each year. They are not good for saving seeds, but better than nothing
