I was a teacher assistant for years. And IF a child could not pay for their lunch. I would buy it for them. One of the teachers I worked under ALWAYS COMPLAINED about me buy the children's lunches. When it came teacher appreciation week I paid for hers the whole week. (Anonymously) After the week was up. We had just gotten back in out room from lunch. I said, " WOW, IT WAS NICE OF THAT PERSON TO PAY FOR YOUR LUNCH THE THE ENTIRE WEEK. HUH? She was just smiling (thinking someone had dine something for her that they had not done for me.) " IT SURE WAS." I WAS LOW ON MONEY THIS WEEK, TOO!" (Still cheesing.)(Now at 1st, I wasn't going to tell her it was me. But this was the RIGHT OPPORTUNITY.) I said, "I did it. Now if those children's parents were low on money. Imagine how those kids AND their parents felt knowing someone cared enough to make sure their child ate at school." Quiet....as a church mouse.....

I worked in the cafeteria in an elementary school and I saw a child taking food off the floor and eating it. I asked him why he was doing it and he said he was hungry even though he’d been given a lunch tray already. I went to the kitchen and asked the supervisor if he could have another tray. She said no and that the child was just greedy. Smh. I went to the store and bought him a hero sandwich along with a snack and some juice. He was soooo happy and ate like there was no tomorrow. The supervisor reported me. I was summoned to the Principal’s office. After explaining to him what happened he gave me a hug and thanked me. The next day the parents came to the school and thanked me also.It doesn’t hurt to give a damn!
