I’ve seen them come into the church for funerals looking like they come from the red light district. Dresses so short can’t sit them on the front pugh, breast out, backs, all the way out. Momma always made us put on decent clothes when going to church, whatever shorts or play clothes had to be changed, the young and even some of the old don’t understand this. What every happened to decorum and proper dress in the Lord’s house.

I can only say from my own life...that when I started going back to church as an adult I didn't know what to wear. I literally was built like that and wore patterned leggings with bright colors and a shirt to match. I was the only young person in the church aside from the preacher & his wife. Nobody told me it was not acceptable. Until one Sunday the preacher mentioned that if a young lady comes to church and you don't like what she's wearing...don't talk about her behind her back, you being an older lady pull her aside and help her. That's when I knew those old ladies were talking about me 😂🤣😂. I improved my church clothes asap. That come as you are thing will get you talked about 🤣

The Gist of "Come As You Are" was more about your flawed soul than the clearly identifiable silhouette of your Birth Canal. Everything in it's time and place...Right? I actually attended a funeral some years back and the man hired to play the organ showed up wearing an orange colored tee shirt, hemmed denim shorts and boat shoes...no socks.
