Bout bad as the church I used to attend... Pastor wanted member's to contribute $1000 for 🆕 windows 🪟...when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the windows we PRESENTLY had 😠... members were mostly elderly seniors 🧓🏻...I was hotter than a wet setting hen as I watched my grandmother struggle to pay for this nonsense when she could barely pay for food 🍲 & medicine 💊... Church had the audacity to mention which members paid what 😠 ( this was the main reason she & other's shelled out)... I was so mad that I wanted to "lay some hands of my own" upon the reverend 🤛🤬‼️After witnessing this mess needless to say I lost ALL respect for that place‼️ I'm sorry in advance if some may take offense to what I've said...but it's extremely upsetting to watch your loved one's struggle to do something they can't do because of the fear of being talked about...this is already happening far too much in Today's Society... let's strive to change THIS for other's who know just how REAL the struggle IS‼️

I love my church and pastor. You can see where your money is going. We’ve gotten a new parking lot, renovated both bathrooms, our kitchen, fellowship hall, the whole church office building inside and out, we have community events, and most recently got a new system to live stream for those who can’t or don’t necessarily want to come to the building each Sunday. And on top of my pastor having a job, he still goes to the hospital to check on ill members, the homes of the sick and elderly. When both my parents were sick he visited them in the hospital and my home and when they died he was at my house within 30mins of them passing. He beat the funeral home there. He’s great and so is my church.

There were a LOT of single mothers in that church with anywhere from 3-5 kids….that’s a LOT of money to REQUIRE from people who were already struggling…..I’m married with two children (who were minors at that time), we could afford it, but we didn’t give it, because it wasn’t RIGHT! The Church of the Bible were actually givers but this new era of church is just filled with takers. The tithe was never for a pastor to live off of. It was to make sure that no one in that community starved but I guess they missed all the rest of the scripture. If you read the rest of Malachi that they use against the members, the curse was actually on the priest because they were the ones who were stealing the tithe and using it for their own selfish reasons. This is why we need to read the Bible ourselves and stop being read too. They're going to have everybody broke and homeless accept themselves.

Tithes are supposed to be 10% of your gross income. I recently joined a church almost an hour from where I live one way. This is a church that I would visit whenever I would travel South to see my family. I finally bought a home in the South so I joined this church. Years ago the pastor would get a love offering at the church’s anniversary. Now every single Sunday a love offering for the pastor is collected. We had a guest speaker today and at the conclusion of his sermon he said our pastor teaches us the Bible so we should be happy to give the pastor a love offering every Sunday. I honestly felt likeI am paying to hear the word. My pastor is very wealthy and he is a retired professional football player. I am not counting his pockets because I do believe that Christians who are tither’s, offering givers and work hard will be financially stable or even wealthy but when does wealth become greed? I am a faithful tither and an offering giver. I am very blessed financially and I am a giver. I personally will not be giving a love offering every single Sunday to my pastor. If I am wrong the Lord will deal with me accordingly. I am considering finding a new church that is closer to my home but I do not want to find a new church if the same begging spirit is in the new church. Lead me guide me show me the way Lord.

@@bbthompson05 Sir I mentioned "not under compulsion" because preachers make parishioners feel obligated and run guilt trips on them to fork out money, even if it's a hardship. Again, not once did Jesus or his true disciples do that. In addition, the money is used for their own gain, generally to finance an elaborate lifestyle. That's improper sir. God is not pleased with them fleecing and exploiting the flock. Such leaders grossly misrepresent Him and will be held accountable. It's sickening how these so-called pastors have perverted the word of God with their own agenda and have the audacity to say "I heard the Lord say." Is this the same Lord that says He loves a cheerful giver, not grudgingly or out of necessity? From the Bible I read He's not pressuring people to give. Let me rock the boat some more, He's not asking for a tithe from everyone either. That was to be collected from the Israelites and paid to the Levitical priest. Are these pastors Levites? Everyone else was to pay what he purposed in his heart to give (freewill offering). The disciples had jobs and pastors should too. Stop funding their lavish lifestyles and you can barely eat.

I believe in paying tithes and giving offerings. Tithes are supposed to be 10% of your first fruits (gross pay) not what a Pastor determines and an offering is what you are lead to put within how you feel and what you can give (could be anywhere between $1 to whatever you yourself choose). Everybody don’t make the same money. This money should go towards mortgage; gas & electric; food; repairs; and maybe even a set pay to the pastor or other workers in the church. I’m sure it’s not meant for a Rolls Royce or a private plane. I believe wolves misuse the true intentions of tithes and offerings. In biblical days the would use some of the money to feed the needed and help out people who were down on their luck until they were able to stand back up. We are supposed to love and help one another not bleed someone out of what they barely have.
