$20, I can feed my family AND dog for 2 days! Go to Publix, get a whole cooked chicken, $7.99. Get rice and vegetables, meal #1. Make chicken salad and eat with crackers or croissants, and sprinkle leftover meat in my dog's bowl, voila! I do this on my lazy days when I don't feel like cooking a whole spread! We're on the same page. I grew up "poor" and country but didn't know that because we ate meals honey. I'm not talking about no ramen noodles either. My mom taught me how to go to the store with $20 and feed a family of 3 for 1 week. That's the kind of stuff we were doing to get to the next paycheck sometimes when it was tight. When I had my girls that kind of stuff came in handy!

No it hasn't, we just didn't have the social media back then for them to tell on themselves. Back when I was 15 in 2005, heading toward the last day of school there was a Senior girl that was always messing with me. She was pregnant and asked me to buy her baby some pampers. I looked at her like she lost her natural mind and said "Isn't that the father's job?" Anecdotal yes, but you can see that same mentality on social media today. People weren't really on MySpace yet back then in those times. Facebook was also still very limited and in its infancy. There was no such thing as TikTok, Twitter or Instagram.

For $20 she can get most of the items she listed at the grocery store. Potatoes are cheap. Asparagus isn't too pricey, especially if its in season. If not, get the frozen kind. The rest of the money can get her pork chops, chicken, ham, or steak, if it's on sale. You can eat good on $20, if you know where to shop for deals & make it yourself. Entitlement & greedy behavior is off the charts nowadays.
