Wonderful Life (ask your parents). Rumpelstiltskin ends up with a bunch of money, but money doesn’t necessarily mean good taste, and so the tiny red-haired dingus builds himself a castle that looks like a Russian church got married to a pineapple. Having said that the castle is ugly, Mutereu somehow manages to make this monstrosity of architecture look beautiful again: green hedges cut into intricate patterns in the landscaped gardens, a surprisingly tasteful blue-and-gold pattern on the roof that looks a little bit like a picnic blanket for royalty, and atop it all, that pineappley crown, with a big, totally tasteful monogrammed “R” for Rumpelstiltskin. “I am a person who really pays attention to movies,” says Mutereu, a tear sparkling in his eye (probably). “I pay attention to all the details related to the surroundings - I admire the beautiful landscapes, sigh over the views of the facades of town houses, and shed a tear of admiration, watching the shiny marble floors of the royal palaces.” “It was the same when I saw Rumpelstiltskin’s’ castle, watching Shrek Forever After,” Mutereu says. “I fell in love with the white walls, blue roofs, golden towers and this large hands.” And that day, at last, is here! Mutereu poured 200 hours of work, sweat and (hopefully not actual) blood into the castle you see before you, which stands at an impressive 256 blocks tall - that’s actually the build limit of Minecraft. This castle literally couldn’t be any taller. It’s built to a scale of 1.5:1, which means it’s actually 1.5 times BIGGER than the original. “Why? Because I love details, and when I have a larger scale, then I can make more of them,” says Mutereu. Perhaps you’re wondering what decadent materials Mutereu built the castle out of? “Sandstone, gold, acacia and tropical planks,” he declares. “You can’t see it, right? Of course. For the purpose of this project I created a special, modified texture package. And so sandstone gained a white shade, acacia boards became blue tiles, and tropical boards - gold blocks, stairs and slabs." “It wasn’t so easy... I had to create perfectly matching graphics so that they fit together in the game.” I’m starting to get an idea of how this took 200 hours. “The most ambitious and most difficult element of the whole project was a huge dome, towering above the castle,” Mutereu says, describing the pineapple-thing. “The first approach didn’t look very good. The dome looked more like a deflated ball. Maybe if I prepared some plans, I could do it the first time. However, I am not a person who plans anything.” Bold words from our expert. Now, usually, here is where I’d leave you with some wise words from our builder - something like “stay in school, kids!” or maybe “the real Minecraft was the friends we made along the way.” But Mutereu doesn’t have any wisdom to impart upon you - other than admitting that “‘ancient spirits’ did not reveal to me ‘secret arcana of knowledge’,” which is disappointing - but he does say this, about the gardens: “I have heard many times that the gardens are the best for me. My special sympathy was the inconspicuous figures of Poetry indeed! Renders by mag32387 and Ploetz. Infographic on Planet Minecraft page by TerrorQ. Discover what’s behind the Marketplace button Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using the resources they find. In the world everything is shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn’t even been released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man, Markus “Notch” Persson, and this is his story. What makes the story of Minecraft so unique is that it was created by Notch and only Notch. Notch had a job before Minecraft, working on games for a company. He started to work on Minecraft in his free time but after a giant popularity spike he realized that it could be a hit, so he quit his job and began…show more content… The game sells around 10,000 copies per day. It has become a cultural phenomenon and on January 12, 2011 sales passed the one million mark, but they continued to rise. With popularity increasing, big name comics like “Penny Arcade” and “Hejibits” discovered the game too and published comic strips about minecraft, leading to even further sales. Minecraft makes $250,000 a day and continues to do so. On June 13, 2011, Minecraft passed 2.5 million sales. Today Mojang has 10 employees. Markus Persson, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Kaplan, Junkboy, Jakob Porser, Carl Manneh, Tobias Mollstam, Aron Neiminen, Daniel Frisk, and Daniel Rosenfeld. These few people make up the team that continues to work towards Minecraft’s future. But with so few employees things take time. Even though the game has not been officially released, people who buy the game get a copy of what it is right now as the updates are being pushed out. With such success Mojang is the target of some heavy criticism from blogs, critics, and even their own fans. One speculation from fans is that Minecraft will be the company’s 1 hit wonder. What happens if it truly is a one hit wonder? Will the company go down under? Will it be the end of Mojang? Will they join a publisher in order to stay afloat and lose their title of “indie?” Another speculation concerns Mojang’s next game that has absolutely nothing to do Everyday across the world, thousands of people log onto their computer to play games. For many, their game of choice is a simple one. If you enjoy shooting games, you may play Counter Strike. If you enjoy RPGs, you may play Major/Minor. If you enjoy strategy games, you may play Europa Universalis IV. However, fans of the sandbox genre may have difficulty choosing between Minecraft and Roblox when the choice is obvious. Roblox is a far superior game to Minecraft due to its gameplay, accessibility, and graphics. Roblox has better gameplay than Minecraft for many reasons. For starters, Roblox offers a way for users to create a variety of games not offered in Minecraft. While Minecraft only offers modes to build and survive, Roblox allows users to create games in nearly every genre. RPG, shooting, puzzle, tycoon and more. Some may say that the mods offered in Minecraft make up for the variety of games in Roblox, but these are only mods. They are not part of the…show more content… When playing Minecraft one notices that the only shape available for players is the cube. No circles, octagons, pentagons, dodecahedrons, or great inverted snub icosidodecahedrons to be found. On the contrary, any and all shapes can be found in Roblox, and if the shape you want is not present, you can simply program it and introduce it to the game. One may ask, what's so important about shapes in a game? Well, the answer is that more shapes in a game can allow users to create more, and even create more games using that may involve a certain shape. Some may argue that circular figures can be introduced to Minecraft via mods, but yet again this is third party software. Which is not officially part of the minecraft experience, and may even harm your gameplay by slowing down or even crashing the game, when all you had to do was go over to Roblox if you wanted to play withbut since their release, gamers have been arguing which one is better. Minecraft is better because of its reliability, massive multiplayer system, and its ingenious difficulty and game modes. First of all, Minecraft has infinite replayability, each world you create is randomly generated and infinite, leaving so much to explore. In the game, you can also visit The

What is grass? Grass is a common name for a large group of plants that belong to the family Poaceae, which includes about 10,000 species of flowering plants1 Grasses are found in almost every habitat on Earth, from the polar regions to the tropics, and from the mountains to the deserts. Grasses are also very important for human civilization, as they provide food, fodder, fuel, fiber, medicine and many other products and services. Characteristics of grasses Grasses have some distinctive features that make them different from other plants. Some of these features are: Stems: Grasses have hollow stems that are divided into segments by nodes. The nodes are where the leaves attach to the stem. The stem segments between the nodes are called internodes. Some grasses have solid stems, such as bamboo and sugarcane2 Leaves: Grasses have long and narrow leaves that grow from the base of the stem or from the nodes. The leaves have parallel veins that run along the length of the leaf. The leaves are usually arranged in two rows on opposite sides of the stem. The part of the leaf that wraps around the stem is called the sheath, and the part that extends away from the stem is called the blade. The point where the sheath and blade meet is called the ligule, which can be a thin membrane, a fringe of hairs or absent2 Roots: Grasses have fibrous root systems that branch extensively and form a dense network of fine roots near the soil surface. The roots help to anchor the plant, absorb water and nutrients, and prevent soil erosion. Some grasses also have rhizomes or stolons, which are horizontal stems that grow underground or along the soil surface and produce new shoots and roots at their nodes. Rhizomes and stolons help grasses to spread vegetatively and colonize new areas2 Flowers: Grasses have small and inconspicuous flowers that are grouped together in spikelets. A spikelet consists of one or more florets, which are the individual flowers, and two bracts called glumes, which enclose the florets. Each floret has a lemma and a palea, which are two more bracts that surround the reproductive organs. The reproductive organs consist of three stamens (male parts) and a pistil (female part) with two feathery stigmas. The stamens produce pollen grains that are carried by wind to the stigmas of other florets for fertilization. The pistil develops into a seed called a caryopsis, which is enclosed by the lemma and palea2 The following table summarizes some of the main characteristics of grasses: Characteristic Description Stems Hollow, segmented by nodes Leaves Long, narrow, parallel-veined Roots Fibrous, branching Flowers Small, grouped in spikelets Types of grasses Grasses can be classified into different types based on their growth habit, life cycle, morphology or use. Some of these types are: Bunchgrasses: These are grasses that grow in tufts or clumps without rhizomes or stolons. They usually have erect stems and leaves that radiate from a central point. Examples of bunchgrasses are wheat, oats, barley and rye. Sod-forming grasses: These are grasses that form dense mats or carpets of vegetation with rhizomes or stolons. They usually have creeping stems and leaves that lie flat on the ground or curve upwards at the tips. Examples of sod-forming grasses are bluegrass, bermudagrass and zoysiagrass. Annual grasses: These are grasses that complete their life cycle in one year or less. They germinate from seeds, grow vegetatively, produce flowers and seeds, and die within a single growing season. Examples of annual grasses are crabgrass, foxtail and barnyardgrass. Perennial grasses: These are grasses that live for more than one year. They can survive unfavorable conditions such as drought, frost or fire by going dormant or losing their aboveground parts. They can regrow from their roots, rhizomes or stolons when conditions improve. Examples of perennial grasses are switchgrass, big bluestem and bamboo. Cereal grasses: These are grasses that produce edible grains that are rich in carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. They are cultivated as staple crops for human consumption and animal feed. Examples of cereal grasses are rice, corn, wheat and millet. Forage grasses: These are grasses that provide fodder for grazing animals such as cattle, sheep and goats. They are grown as pastures, hay or silage. Examples of forage grasses are alfalfa, clover and fescue. Turf grasses: These are grasses that are grown as ornamental or recreational plants for lawns, parks, golf courses and sports fields. They are selected for their appearance, durability and low maintenance. Examples of turf grasses are Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrass and bentgrass. Bamboos: These are grasses that have woody stems that can grow very tall and thick. They are used for construction, furniture, paper, musical instruments and many other purposes. Examples of bamboos are giant bamboo, golden bamboo and lucky bamboo. Benefits of grasses Grasses have many benefits for humans and the environment. Some of these benefits are: Food: Grasses provide food for humans and animals in the form of grains, shoots, rhizomes and leaves. Grasses are the source of most of the world’s calories and proteins. Grasses also produce sugar, oil, starch, alcohol and other products that are used for food or industrial purposes. Fiber: Grasses provide fiber for making paper, cloth, rope, baskets and other items. Grasses such as cotton, hemp and flax are grown as fiber crops. Grasses such as bamboo, rattan and reed are used for making furniture, mats and other items. Fuel: Grasses provide fuel for heating, cooking and lighting. Grasses such as wood, charcoal and peat are burned directly as fuel. Grasses such as corn, sugarcane and switchgrass are converted into ethanol or biodiesel that can be used as fuel for vehicles or generators. Medicine: Grasses provide medicine for treating various diseases and ailments. Grasses such as wheatgrass, barley grass and oat straw are used as herbal remedies or dietary supplements. Grasses such as lemongrass, citronella and vetiver are used as essential oils or aromatherapy. Soil conservation: Grasses help to conserve soil by preventing erosion, improving soil structure, increasing organic matter and enhancing water infiltration. Grasses also help to reduce soil salinity, acidity and toxicity by absorbing excess salts, metals and chemicals from the soil. Water conservation: Grasses help to conserve water by reducing runoff, evaporation and transpiration. Grasses also help to purify water by filtering sediments, nutrients and pollutants from the water. Climate regulation: Grasses help to regulate climate by moderating temperature, humidity and wind. Grasses also help to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their biomass or soil. Biodiversity: Grasses help to maintain biodiversity by providing habitat, food and shelter for many animals, insects and microorganisms. Grasslands support a rich diversity of life forms such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, butterflies, bees and fungi. Conclusion Grass is a type of plant that belongs to the family Poaceae. It has distinctive features such as hollow stems, narrow leaves, fibrous roots and small flowers grouped in spikelets. There are many types of grasses based on their growth habit, life cycle, morphology or use. Grasses have many benefits for humans and the environment such as food, fiber, fuel, medicine, soil conservation, water conservation, climate regulation and biodiversity.
