Is it just me or is everyone else disappointed that Twilight and her friends tried to befriend Sunset Shimmer in the first movie but Sunset, Twilight nor Pinkie who is the most approachable of the group even made an attempt to befriend and redeem the Dazzlings? I would have wanted them to be reformed and be interesting side characters in the series.

the Dazzlings kinda ran away right after the battle tho, and the next time they saw them was at the concert. Also, the Dazzlings never never gave an indication of being interested in being reformed (unlike sunset and the others), so that might be why they never approached the Dazzlings about friendship.

Okay, but principal Sombra would have made so much more sense. It would be a familiar character, and his motivation for doing anything possible to win the friendship games would have been pretty easy to put in. Perhaps winning the prizes (wanting shiny trophies, wanting shiny crystals? That’s not much of a stretch in my mind), and it could have been the human equivalent of princess cadence coming into her leadership after sombras rule. I was so scared to go into high school as a middle schooler, but really it did turn out to be pretty chill. I'm also from Poland, but I went to an international high school, so I guess I'll never know what a "real polish high school" is like. But even in my school no one randomly danced or broke out into a song. There wasn't a popular girl that everyone knew or a baseball player that everyone had a crush on. @@LeekSan I've recolored Luna's design in a paint program and redrawn her using her original color palette from FIM and she looked fine. Besides, how is it "weird" to have dark blue skin but perfectly normal to have light blue??? They're not trying to adhere to the rules of reality here. Their designs *already* looked weird. The least they could do is throw some diversity into the mix instead of making every single character super light even if their original colors suit darker skin tones more in place of their coats. Luna's equestria girls design barely even *resembles* her regular design. Even as a kid I thought she was a different character until she started speaking. Her hair color is wrong, her clothes didn't match the rest of her palette, her skin tone is incredibly pastel when Luna is *known* for her dark colors, her makeup is a different color.. they completely overhauled her just to suit the decision of making her "pastel" or white-appearing instead of just allowing her to keep her initial color palette from the series and making a few much smaller adjustments to suit that. You can see a lot of very intentional choices by Hasbro to not show characters with dark skin in equestria girls for some reason. They even made *Zecora* white in their doll release for her. ZECORA. OF ALL THE CHARACTERS IN MLP, SHE'S THE MOST OBVIOUSLY AFRICAN. SHE'S VOICED BY AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMAN. HER ENTIRE HOUSE IS INSPIRED BY AFRICAN TRADITIONS. BUT NOW SHE'S WHITE????? IM NOT BUYIN IT. ZECORA SHOULD BE BLACK. I know it seems like I'm getting overly heated but it just pains me to see that they've made so many active decisions to remove even *implied* diversity from equestria girls for essentially no reason, even if there were several characters that would have translated really well to having a darker skin tone in their human counterparts. I can't speak for any POC on this, but I know it can be difficult when you're a kid and none of the characters in the shows you watch look even remotely like you. Good representation can make a big impact on a child. And if you can't understand that, I don't know what to tell you.

Well the first two Equestria Girls movies are canon to the show because of Twilight Sparkle in the season four opening two parter "Princess Twilight Sparkle" having trouble adjusting to her wings just like in the beginning of the first Equestria Girls movie, Flash Sentry appearing in two season 4 episodes "Threes a Crowd" and "Twilight's Kingdom part 1", the Dazzlings appearing in the season 7 closing two parter "Shadow Play", plus Sunset and Flash appearing in Twilight's closing montage in the final song of the show "Magic of Friendship Grows" in the last episode "The Last Problem".

Honesltly "Equestria Girls" was NOWHERE near the abomination that all the "Faust" purists tried to make it out to be. The first one wasn't perfect and yeah the pacing was kinda iffy, but it was a fun little time waster. As for the sequels, it certainly peaked with "Rainbow Rocks". If the first one was simple foundation, "Rainbow Rocks" made people like "Equestria Girls" as a brand. As for "Friendship Games" and "Legends of Everfree"? They were pretty decent too and were more about just throwing these girls into whatever situation they felt like.

As a Faust purist I dont mind this series. I just wish the designs were better and some of the ponies who are adults with teacher like roles in the main universe were also teachers were also shown to be teachers here. Also that maybe it was college not high school? Like their a few design choices that make.. not a lot of sense to me? I don't think translationing MLP into this high school series was done too well. In the pony world a lot of ponies are adults with adult jobs. Maybe at most are college level. There's a unspoken implication that some of the characters are deaged to make it work. You (normally) wouldnt see a 20+ yr old in high school. Let alone in a weird school were def middle school and maybe under are also are students. Like all of Equestria is shoved into one single high school. The world building is just sooooo ugh. Awkward.

Midnight Sparkle is one of my favorite villains in ANY media. Twilight was pushed around throughout the movie, so more than even Tirek I could see her not caring that she'd destroy the world. And can you imagine how disingenuous Sunset's apology must have seemed to her when she only wanted to be friends RIGHT AFTER Twilight had gained the power to destroy her enemies? That made the scene of Sunset offering her hand so much more emotional. Twilight was genuinely scared, and even after seeing that the girl who'd just stripped her of her powers still wanted to be friends taking her hand was a leap into the unknown. But wait, it gets even better! While many reformed villains are afraid of slipping back into their old ways, SciTwi has a better reason to fear than any of them. She joined the cast after her defeat, but the Midnight In Me song made it feel like she still wishes she could have kept her powers. She has friends and a new life now, but given a chance would she trade it all for another chance to destroy for her own goals? She knows she shouldn't be even considering something like that, but is it only because she knows this is the life she now has and shouldn't risk it with even thinking of betraying it? This is what she fears about Midnight Sparkle.

The people behind eqg are definitely not afraid to show her skin, she shows the most skin when going to that rock concert

Everfree, in a way, IS a pilot to a new series, and I mean the specials. I think the movie is really good, but in my opinion, the weakest part is Twilight's love for Timber. I don't know, maybe I'm just bitter my favorite character is in a romance. After all, I'm aromantic, and I don't enjoy a lot of romance. Maybe it's just the overall factor that Timber is cringe. Or it could just be that it was one of those subplots that you could take out and the movie would be relatively the same. I enjoy romance only if it contributes to the main plot.

One time she went out for a smoke break during the climax of Rainbow Rocks, so she was half watching it from our blurry sliding door window. The skin colour of the human designs still weirds me out. Like ok, it’s a choice to not use actual skin tones and just use the pony’s original fur colour, but why did they lighten them all? Honestly I feel they could bring the Dazzlings back in another movie. Watching Rainbow Rocks, I felt that these characters still have potential. With a little rewriting, these three can still be amazing villains. Maybe a movie where they discover magic from the camp or maybe from elsewhere that helps restore their pendants. Maybe at the end, the plot can take a twist with one of the Dazzlings taking all three of the power charges pendants and becoming a very powerful siren, and the other two, concerned for their friend, team up with the mane 7 to try and save the other. This would make for great character development, and make up for the lack of screen time the Dazzlings got in Rainbow Rocks. I’d love them to try incorporating them into another movie that goes more in depth with the Dazzlings characters overall.

I have an official RD toy with solid blue hair, just why. I read that she's part of a set that's meant to be cheaper, but just... At least just make her hair the primary colours. I love the designs of the Equestria Girls, including the coloured skin. They're really cute, the artstyle is adorable and the clothes are much more the style I like than Monster High. I hate how the toys look nothing like them though. G4 MLP already has this problem with heaps of show-unaccurate toys (Rainbow Dash and Applejack's eyes, Twilight's mane colours, pink Celestia, etc...) and then the EQG toys are so incredibly different. Why do they have lipstick? If they put it on Rarity I'd understand, and I can see Pinkie wearing it to parties and stuff, but the rest just make no sense. Especially Rainbow Dash. Equestria Girls Minis are also so high quality and cute, I love the Pinkie one for the cafe or something, with the rollerskates and blue and white dress. Only thing is their skirts always come off and it's annoying And yeah I always wondered why Fluttershy's outfit showed so much. I don't care that they all have short skirts, it gives them a nice silhouette, but why the solid coloured singlet. It's not only boring from being a single colour and solid shape with no seams or anything, but it feels outta place. I feel like she'd have thin long sleeves or kind of flowing maybe middle-arm length ones. Rainbow Rocks is def the best movie to me. Maybe it's just the great songs, but it just has this amazing aesthetic. The visuals in the opening song are so cool too. Also I feel like in general the EQG mane 6 are a bit more shallow in personality than the ponies, plush I wish the plots for the first 3 movies were less highschool cliche. At least the fourth has something unique for the plot even if I don't remember much from it. Plus Midnight in Me is so close to Luna's Future. Also it occurred to me while re-listening to the songs that Embrace the Magic is practically a leitmotif for The Magic of Friendship Grows, although I much prefer the latter I think the unused ver of I Know There's More That's Out There (or whatever it's called) is much better than the one we got Oh one thing I noticed though is that while the Mane 6 have the exact same faces apart from eyes, the Crystal Prep group actually all have dif face shapes which I just found weird XD

I like the skirts but I also agree that they're boring too I'd say they probably simplified the skirts so much to make animating easier but most of G4 is flash animation, literally one of the easiest and lowest quality forms of animation They could've put more layers on the skirts, added more colors, made them different lengths, but ig not 😐 I also don't think Dash and AJ would wear skirts as they made it so obvious throughout the whole series that they hate wearing girly things- if Hasbro wasn't full of misogynists they wouldn't even be wearing dresses in A Canterlot Wedding I think Twilight should have a long skirt to suit her mature, intelligent, femme but not cutesy persona. Fluttershy would either wear a short skirt with something long underneath to hide her legs, or she'd also wear a longer skirt because shy people hate showing skin. Rarity definitely wouldn't settle for a skirt so basic and bland- she should have something bold and flashy like herself. I think Pinkie's skirt is fine, but should have confetti or polka dots or something of the sorts to fit herself better. This is the longest rant I've had about skirts..

We could've finally had a proper backstory between him and Sunset Shimmer. Instead, we had three different cameos of him; past, pony and present.

This wasn’t a story about SS and Flash. But a story about Sunset losing her memories, and an outsider like Trixi teaching her she still has something to learn. You have to pick a focal point in storytelling and that was ours" She said Forgotten Friendship's story isn't about Flash, but on memory loss with Trixie being chosen as the outsider who helps Sunset realize she has more to learn on friendship. Besides, dunno why Flash would somehow be more willing to believe Sunset considering he lost his good memories of her too? Like if the Rainbooms were refusing to believe Sunset, with not even Sci-Twi believing her despite not experiencing Sunset's crueler actions firsthand, it's hard to believe it'd be different with Flash. At least Trixie has the excuse of being the Red Herring of the story and it'd be awkward to just ignore her right after she's proven innocent.

I remember when the first one came out, and I think I was 12 at the time. I remember being kinda lukewarm about the first EG, but like most of the fandom, Sunset is the stand out. She's great, and she grew on me a lot after the second EG. Also Sci-Twi is an good addition. I think she has much better chemistry with Sunset. Those two are my big reason to rewatch now and again.

Alright so...let's see...I am 4:15 into this and I am still thinking of that EQG Yaksona you showed. All I have to say is nice work on that. Normally I forget OCs (even my own) about two minutes after looking at them but that one really stands out, nice mellow color scheme, body build (what I would expect an EQG Yak to have to be frank) good expression and just very well done. fun fact about the toys!!! the clothes DO kind of fit on monster high dolls. not nearly as well as bratz clothes do- they're often very small BUT i used the clothes i got with my sunset shimmer doll and if you style them correctly its not super noticeable- like the pants are an awkward length but if you pair it with tall boots you can't tell. PLUS the shoes, with a little convincing, ALSO fit monster high dolls which is incredible because ive yet to see another doll type with shoes that fit monster high dolls- barbie shoes are FAR too small and obviously bratz are out of the question. i mean im sure ever after high dolls fit but those are probably like.. the same exact size + shape as far as the dolls go so thats a given im sure. anyways my monster high dolls absoutely ROCK sunset's outfit so thats just one more thing sunset shimmer has given to the world shoutout to sunset shimmer i loved these movies btw. sunset shimmer is an ICON i wish i was her

5:53 just want to note this, that's wrong. It's shown in the movie at one point that the Fall Formal Crown looks near identical to Twilight's crown. Celestia most likely found it on the ground thinking someone had attempted to steal the crown the school was going to use.

I think the crystals in Legend of Everfree are meant to represent The Elements of Harmony in some way. After all, they are also found in the Everfree Forest, so it would make more sense in that aspect. Not only that, but they never had a reason to look for them in this world. It makes sense that the crystals would react when the main 6 are there since they’re connected to them in the pony world. Feel free to add onto this or if I’m wrong about anything, this is just how I see it. Edit: It’s been a while since I’ve watched the movies, so there might be some parts I’m missing. Like, now that I’m thinking about it, the crystals didn’t react to the main 6 if I remember correctly. I remember that Gloriosa found them in a cave.

I think the implication is that Twilight was in a private school for "gifted" children as a kid. My guess is that the work there was very difficult and stressful at least when she was younger? I say that because I was a sheltered kid whose OCD kicked in when I got into a very difficult private high school/college program. The stress brought my OCD in full force. And twilight... Well... She's pretty OCD at times
