The dragon egg/rock theory is basically stolen from an Asian morality tale. In the story, all the kids were given seeds(but they are actually pebbles) to plant and they all return with beautiful flowers of all varieties. Except one kid comes back with his 'unhatched' seed. The competition was a trick to discover who had integrity. Even though his 'seed' didn't hatch, the soil was still moist showing the child tried till the very end.

i think the reason why g5 failed where g4 succeeded is g4 had a passionate creative visionary at the helm at the very start in lauren faust. even though her involvement with the show was only the first two seasons, her designs and visual language set the tone of almost the entire series -- i say almost because the show lost some artistic merit as it went on and the designs became less focused on character and more on being toyetic. g5 was intended to be toyetic from the very beginning, it was intended to riff off of the current style of cartoons but did it in a way that was cheap and without any real unifying vision. the colors were garish, the designs of the mane 6 didn't flow together as a group, and they didn't care enough to ensure the animation measured up. hasbro got way too comfortable with just shilling out shlock with vague nods to what kids liked before, without realizing that kids are way smarter than that.

What I feel like hasbro shpuld new is put the MLP brand on hiatus for a little while. Maybe like three years. They could still release merchandise, probably even really high-quality retro merch and maybe even the occasional G4-inspired cartoon. Then they could use that time to devolve MLP into something new and different, perhaps starting with a movie or something.

LPS popular is what happens when you give littlest pet shops and a camera to a gifted child. Sophie was a seriously talented young girl with insane editing, acting, and script-writing skills. She completely changed the game with this story! This show is literally than most recent netflix originals in my opinion. The script and plot is well thought out, the characters are complex and well written, even the 'good' characters have their flaws and unlikeable moments. Not to mention the mystery and plot twists throughout the series that made it so addicting! Despite some cliche and overdramatised moments, Brooke and Savannah sound like very real teenage girls with teenage girl problems. Sophie may very had been taking inspiration off of her own highschool experience, (Although I hope it wasnt as chaotic as the series), which is what made it so enjoyable and accurate. Girls can be so mean! Unless you're Brooke Hayes level mean, then you should probably be admitted.

Actually, G5 is the shortest generation of MLP. What you call G2 wasn't it's own generation. It was a spinoff of G1. G2 ONLY exists as a toy line. Camp Cutiemark was never pitched as G6. It was just a special event. And one that was cancelled no less. If they did make that G6, it would've been the worst idea they could've done. Because it's not even a new generation. G5, though taking place in the same world as G4, was still a different generation. Camp Cutiemark would've been no different than My Little Pony Tales just being an extension of G1. At least G5, though not as successful as it should've been, did the worst thing it could've done, and just be a reboot of G4. The G5 concept art was just that, concept art. There was no reason to assume it would reuse the G4 Mane 6. They were just used to show off the art style concepts. It was far too early to have even come up with characters or a plot.
