How to connect microphone to my psm300
@MicheleGuaitoli2 жыл бұрын
There's no way to connect it directly, as the PSM300 has NO preamplifier. You have to use an AUX line of your mixing console or, as an alternative, you can buy an external preamplifier with double output. 1 will go to the mixing console and the other will go into 1 of the 2 inputs of your PSM300

Hi Michele, thanks for this video! I would like to control the level of my vocal (vs the level of my band) myself on stage. But I may be playing small venues without large mixing desks with many auxes, so I liked your way of using the PSM200 to get separate control over the vocal and band levels. Unfortunately it seems like the PSM200 has now been discontinued by Shure. Is there another model out there that would do the same job? Thanks very much! P.s. I saw Visions of Atlantis in Manchester, England a while ago and you were really excellent!
@MicheleGuaitoli2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Unfortunately that was the feature that made PSM200 unique...I would totally try to get one in the used market! You can actually achieve the same result with a PSM300 using the mono mixes, but you'll need two aux signals coming from the mixing console, one with your voice and one with the "overall mix"

Hi!, Thanks for the video. I will buy PSM 200 for singing. My doubt is, can I conect to it a Shure BLX2 / SM58-S8 Wireless? In the website they say the reciever will need a S8 frequency configuration.
@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
Hi Shaka! Maybe there is some misunderstanding. The BLX2 and the PSM200 will not work together without a cable connections. There's no chance to use the frequencies of the PSM200 to get the signal of the Wireless Microphone directly to your in-ear monitor if this is what you mean...but the connection between a PSM200 and a BLX24 is EXTREMELY easy: you'll just need an XLR cable! This means that you'll have to buy both a PSM200 and a BLX2+BLX4 (BLX24, its price is around 300€) When you'll have bought both the PSM200 and the BLX2/SM58 Wireless Microphone, you will find an XLR output on the BLX4 that you have to plug straight into one of the inputs of the PSM200 transmitter! Don't make the wrong move buying the BLX2 only as it will never work ;)

Hi Michele. Thanks for the precious information in the video. Still i’m not decided which of the two models would suit my need better and wondered if you could advice. I’m a vocalist and I’m using an Yamaha MG12 mixer, so i always have available 1Aux channel. I generally sing at small events (duo, trio or small band) and i just want to replace the TC Helicon Voice Solo FX 150 (which pleased me, but there are + 4kg to carry and too many cables).
@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
Since you only have 1 aux, it’s pointless to go stereo imho, so the choice only cares in terms of quality. The psm300 has a better sound quality but you should mix everything from the MG12 mixer. If you need to change something, in this case you should take care of always having access to the mixing console. If you go with the psm200, and I would personally suggest you this option, you could go straight to the device with the xlr cable from your mic, then from the rear xlr output to the Yamaha, and with a jack jack you could get the signal from the aux output of the mixer to the second input of the psm200. This way you could always have access to the separate levels of your vocals on the first channel and of the instruments on the second channel. Easier, cheaper, personally better.

@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks! You can use either a standard unbalanced jack-jack or a balanced jack-jack cable! You can plug it on the in-ear input on one side and on the "MON SEND" output on the Mackie. After that you'll have to raise both the "MON" Master Fader and the "AUX" knobs on the channels you'll be willing to hear for your monitoring! Cheers \m/

@MicheleGuaitoli4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luis, I guess you mean how many bodypakcs can be synchronised with a single transmitter. As Shure said on its website: you have to imagine the transmitter as a small radio sending a radio signal in the surroundings, so the answer is: as many as you want...but they'll all listen to the same thing!

Thank You for the excellent Video...My question is I have the PSM300 which I use in Mono and I only use 1 Shure SE215 ear phone in my left ear. The problem I seem to have is that even before I turn my body pack on the volume display on the receiver is already half lit up...If this happens would selecting a New Channel fix the problem. Thanks Michele....Very Much Appreciated.

Do you mean that even when the bodypack is off, the volume on the TRANSMITTER is half lit up? If yes...that’s absolutely normal as the transmitter shows you the level of the signal it gets, no matter if the bodypack is on or off...

Thank You for replying...Much Appreciated...I was asking because I only use the Left ear phone on stage as I like to hear the band naturally through my Right ear...I am not sure whether the on stage volume is too loud or not because when I use the Left ear phone only my volume lights on the Transmitter seems to be peaking most of the time...It doesn't seem like this is correct to me...Can I balance the volume so it is louder in the Left ear phone only as I do not use the Right ear phone...That way I can turn down the overall volume on my Body Pack and have more sound coming through the Left Ear Phone and hopefully this will stop the Transmitter Lights peaking???...Any advice would be Greatly Appreciated Mate...Thank You Michele :)

Hi, with psm200 can I just connect a cable to the back output and go straight to the aux on the mixer? Or do I have to go from the front input to the mixer?
@MicheleGuaitoli3 жыл бұрын
if you want to send the signal from the mixer to the psm200, the correct routing is: mixer aux --> front input the back output SENDS the signal from the front-input of the PSM200 to any other gear you have, it's just a "through" output.

Hi Michele! Love your content! I just bought the psm300 but don't know how to connect to my mixer Soundcraft EFX8. To connect in stereo with 2 balanced cables, where should I plug them on my mixer? Would appreciate your help. Kind regards from Portugal! :)
@MicheleGuaitoli3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alexx! The soundcraft EFX8 only has one AUX output, so my suggestion would be to get the signal directly from the jack EFX8 main output OR from the jack MONITOR output. You will receive the "main output" signal, but I guess this is a good options with a mixer like yours. Let me know if this is satisfying or if I can help you in any other way :)

Are you 100% sure it is receiving signal, by seeing the bars moving on the receiver? If yes it seems to be a channel syncing problem, you should just check if the channels are correctly sync!

Ciao bel video!!Ho visto che il Psm300 viene accoppiato a volte al p3r e altre al p3ra,che differenza c’è tra i due trasmettitori?
@MicheleGuaitoli3 жыл бұрын
Ciao Andrea!

Hello Friend! I liked your video and congratulations for it! I have a question: I have a psm200, and I use it like this: in input 1 I use the voice (so that it comes out clean without dirt from mixer) and I use the Split Out 1 for send to mixer, to exit the Main LR; and I use the input 2 to come out an aux of the mixer, like return of the instruments! how would you make that connection on the psm300? Can it be made? I follow exactly the link suggested by Shure on the psm200 for vocalists and would you know if I can do the same on the psm300? is there a possibility to split out like psm200 on the psm300? Thank you
@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
RFassina Hey! Thanks for your words! Regarding your question: PSM300 has split outs but it has NO pre-amps, meaning that if you want the same effect you can only reach it with tricky situations. You could use it in MONO using the l/r balance between ch 1 and 2 (left and right inputs) as “mix” to balance the volume of the voice and the mix “return”. How to get the voice there? Use an “insert cable” (stereo jack to 2 mono jack). Stereo jack goes to the insert of your mixer, in the vocal channel ofc, send goes to the PSM300 input, return goes to the split out jack on the psm 300. You’ll obviously be forced to use the gain of the vocal channel of your mixing console as gain for the in-ear system too, but at least with the l/r balance (mix mode) you’ll be able to set the volumes you want to hear!

@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
Ciao Victorious!

Having only the drums and no signals at all in the wedges/stage monitors, the loudness on stage is not hurting at all. It is a bit strange, but somehow the live feeling is better if you don’t have any ambience microphone plugged :)

hi meek. i just bought the psm 300 t11. i‘ve heard that it has 4 channels. does it mean that at best 4 people can use this kind of system in one band?
@MicheleGuaitoli4 жыл бұрын
It has way more channels :) You should have 9 Groups with 15 Channels each...it's 135 channels in total. And there's basically no limit in the amount of people who can listen to this system. If you get 4 t11 receiver, 4 people will hear what the PSM300 t11 transmitter will send. If you'll purchase 10 t11 receivers...10 people will hear the same mix... Beware: they ALL receive the SAME signal, not different mixes.

Does the psm300 sound better than the psm200?
@MicheleGuaitoli5 жыл бұрын
Hey Patbanger! Yes. I can assure that the PSM300 has a better quality in terms of harmonics, dynamic range and definition. Moreover, the PSM300's limiter can be activated and de-activated from the bodypack menu, whilst the PSM200's limiter is always on and this really improves the PSM300 quality compared to the PSM200, that still remains the best of the "entry-level" models!!!

Thanks for the info but I totally disagree with you advise on only using 1 ear bud. If you use 2 you'll be able to lower the db level to your ears. If you use one then you're fighting the stage volume and will need to turn up the db level on the ear bud you are using which is a good way to damage your hearing. I know! I've done it and don't recommend it.
@MicheleGuaitoli3 жыл бұрын
Hey Denny, thanks for your suggestion. This is highly subjective and really dependent on the on-stage monitoring. I personally use two ear-buds all the times since ages now, but it happened to me many times to hear about musicians having hard times with "detaching" from the live sound, as using both ear-buds without ambience-microphones, REALLY isolates you from the rest of the world. If you have proper stage monitoring and use the single ear-bud with decent levels just as a "power-up" / "focus-on" on what you need, I assure you you won't have any consequence. Avoiding to push the volume too loud is something that must be ALWAYS kept in mind.
@dennytroy3 жыл бұрын
@@MicheleGuaitoli I've been using in ears for about 10 years now and love it. I do have a pair of molded in ears and yes I did experience some of the isolation and that's when I went to using 1 in and 1 out but ended up damaging my hearing because I found I had to have the one in ear turned up louder when competing with the stage volume. It all depends on stage volume. A solo acoustic gig is no big deal but when you have drums and electric guitars and a small stage where you're on top of one another it does matter. Anyway, after discussing with a rep at one of the music stores he suggested looking at a Westone ear buds that allow some of the room ambience in. I haven't used my molds since I got these.
@MicheleGuaitoli3 жыл бұрын
@@dennytroy I absolutely understand. For instance, what I do with my bands whenever it's possibile, is to use ambience microphones so that we can actually hear some stuff from the environment. Unfortunately it's not always possibile and most of the times, when isolated, I lose completely the crowd...so I totally understand what people mean when they say "I lose the connection with the environment". Luckily, there are plenty of solutions for different needs :D
