It you live stream, using StreamYard or any of the other streaming platforms, but live streaming isn't your full time job, then the SHURE MV7 with the USB cable is the microphone for you.
I've been using the Blue Yeti for over a year and it is a great mic. It's a workhorse! But it's not the ideal mic for my setup.
My set up is probably like most live streamers; hard walls, hard desktop surface, sheetrock or drop ceiling, and talking into a computer monitor with a webcam or camera mounted on top of it. That's NOT an ideal setup of the Blue Yeti, in my opinion.
I really wanted a mic that could give me a podcaster or radio announcer sound. The mic would have to be a "dynamic" mic with settings options that are intuitive, that is plug n' play. This search brought me to the SHURE MV7.
The Blue Yeti is a condenser mic, which means it is super sensitive to sounds and would work in an environment with lots of sound proofing. The MV7 is a dynamic mic, which means it picks up sound that is right in front of it; with much less background noise being picked up by it. Also, it works right out of the box with just a USB cable. No need to use the XLR option and the necessary audio equipment you'll need to power the mic.
The ShurePlus MOTIV app adds extra control; giving you control over compression, equalizer choices, auto and manual mode, and more. It is extremely easy to download.
For me, this mic is a keeper. I've used it on my live streams and I'm thrilled with how well I sound. It is also a great looking mic on a boom arm. With the USB connection, you could use the headphone jack at the bottom of it, just like the Blue Yeti.
I've seen so many people compare the USB and XLR connections and I've concluded that there really is no difference. I understand audio purists like to stick with XLR, but for me, getting the same quality sound with USB is good enough for me. The MV& is also compared to the highly respected SHURE SM7B mic, the one that Joe Rogan uses in his podcast and the one that Michael Jackson used to record Thriller. In the tests I've seen on KZbin, the sound from the MV7, using the USB connection, sounds just as good. And remember, you have the ShurePlus Motive app to help you dial in your unique sound.
I hope this video helps you out.
